For the family of Johann Zempel, I have that this family belonged to Friedens Church, Milwaukee and most probably Friedens Church, Wauwatosa, in 1875. Friedens records show a wedding 20 August 1875 of August Zempel of Wauwatosa, son of Johann Zempel and Justine (Strohschein) Zempel, born in Bromberg, Posen, Prussia -- had been in the U.S. 11 years in 1875 -- and a widower (August was a widower)I think 3 months to Bertha Bentz, daughter of Wilhelm and Caroline (Kath) Bentz from Pomerania. (Once again, I think I have a home place for the Bentz family... I can look further.) Bertha had been 1 year in the US at the time of the wedding. The groom was 31 and the bride 22 at the time of the wedding.
I am assuming that this Johann and Justine were the parents of both Johann and August Zempel. A good thorough search of the Friedens Milwaukee and Friedens Wauwatosa microfilms would reveal this. I became aware of the relationship between my family and the Zempels rather late in my research, so I did not document them as well as I would have liked to.
