West Bend News Nov. 22, 1945 "Mrs John Emmer, nee Mary Schmitt of Rout 4, West Bend, were she resided with her daughter Mrs. Pauline Marx, passed away there on Nov. 14 after having been ill since Nov. 10. At that time Mrs. Emmer was injured severely in a fall down the stairs at the Marx home. The deceased was born May 17, 1866 in the town of Wayne and married John Emmer on Nov. 25, 1890 at St. Killian. After their marriage they settled in the town of Wayne and in 1906 they moved on to a farm in the town of Addison. After their retirement in 1932 they moved to Allenton. Mr. Emmer preceded his wife in death on May 4, 1937. Mrs. Emmer is survived by the following children other than the above mentioned daughter: Joe residing on the homestead, Theresa (Mrs. Wm. Kaun) Anna (Mrs. Edwin Klumb), Anita (Mrs. Mich. Schmidt) all of Allenton and Elisabeth (Mrs. Lawrence Wilson of Wilmette, Ill. She is further survived by a sister, Miss Elizabeth Schmitt of Wayne and 14 grandchildren, one of whom Willard Kaun is serving on Okinawa with the armed forces at the present time. Funeral services for Mrs. Emmer were conducted by the Rev. Leo Belda at Sacred Heart church, Allenton, on Saturday morning. Mrs. Emmer was a member of the Christian Mother's society of the church. Prior to the services at the church the remains had been in state at the Ritger Funeral home, Allenton. Interment took place in the adjoining parish cemetery where the Rev. Leo Skalitzkey officiated."
