Melvin R. Harper (born about 1907 near Mercer, Iron, Wisconsin, USA to Edgar E. Harper and Jane Elizabeth "Jennie" Keyes-Harper) was married to Dorothy I. Knox . Melvin was poisoned by his stepmother Marian (McBurney) Harper using strychnine (meant for his father) on April 11, 1930 most likely near Mercer or Rhinelander, Wisconsin but possibly near Lac du Flambeau in Vilas. I am looking for information on the stepmother Marian (she was married to Edgar E. Harper and tribal member of Lac du Flambeau Native American and said to have resided in a "house of ill repute" run by a Lac du Flambeau man near Mercer or Rhinelander while on the run from the law in 1930 and possibly before her marriage around 1925.) - specifically information about her arrest, trial, etc.
I know that IF she was in prison, it was not very long and she did not have the death penalty, because she remarried and lived until around 1967. I have found articles mentioning an inquest- but nothing about an arrest, trial or sentencing.
