Please help soon...
This is necessary so that my niece can make application to the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War...and she will only be in town for two weeks before her squadron deploys for Kuwait. She is currenly serving in the US Navy...

I need the citation for the obituary of Andrew Sallander.
I have a copy of the obit, but it was simply cut out and never cited anywhere...

Death date was 16 June 1895 in Vernon Co, Wisc.

Andrew Sallander was my niece's Civil War Patriot ancestor.

This is a vital record, as the family has not yet recieved a marriage record, or death record for this man, although I have learned that both records are somewhere in Vernon County...and I have the dates.
I simply can not spend the money on thos records.
Andrew Sallander married Hannah Hildebrandt on 14 March 1857 in Vernon County, Wisconsin,
and died 16 June 1895 also in Vernon County, Wisconsin.
I was told that those records would cost me $15.00 each, plus the research fee, plus postage...and I just do not have the additional funds at this time.
But this is my gift to my niece and her daughter.

I did sent away for his Civil War Pension File, and it has arrived, but the DUVCW requires documentation, with citiations...so need to know the date of issue for the newspaper obituary with name and location of paper (what city is it published in) section of paper, page, and column if at all possible.
I have the old clipping, so do not even need the image itself.

I know everyone out there is busy this time of year...but we all keep saying we want to help our troops...so Please, put this one high on your list of priorities "for the troops", in this case, my niece.
This wonderful young lady wants to honor her ancestors that also served, and this is our window of opportunity to help her. So I am doing the leg work, paper work, research and paying for as much of her documentation as my budget could squeeze out.
This is her ancestor, not mine.

Obituary article read as follows:

DIED.
At his home in Wheatland on the morning of the 16th inst., of heart failure, in the sixtieth year of his age, Mr. Andrew Sallander, well and favorably known, a good citizen, a faithful friend, father, brother and husband, who will be long remembered and deeply regretted. Mr. Sallander was born in Saxony, Germany, May 19, 1835. He came to the United States in 1851, resided in New York several years, then moved to Chaseburg. He was married to Miss Hannah Hildebrandt March 14, 1857, and settled on the farm which he occupied at the time of his death, on the Asbury Ridge, town of Wheatland. He leaves a wife, and seven children grown, four sons and three daughters, also two brothers and one sister. He served honorably in Co. F, 43rd Wisconsin regiment in the late Civil War, and at the time of his death was a member of the
Jas. Mason post of De Soto. An immense crowd attended his funeral services, which were conducted by Rev. W. Haughton of Retreat. The burial service was in part conducted by his own remaining old comrades of the post, who are being solemnly mustered out one by one. The farewell over that open grave was sad in the extreme. So expressive of the warm German heart. The departed was a member of the Lutheran Church. W. H.
