I have recently been searching for another Woychik family -and came across Julia Woychik and her family at the same time. They crossed to the States on the steam ship Bavaria leaving
Hamburg on May 1st, 1868 and arriving in
New York on May 18th. According to the information about the voyage, her parents were
Simon Wojeck, aged 51, a farmer, Christine Wojeck, his wife,
Philippine Wojeck, 18 his child, and Ulianna Wojeck, 12, his child. I rather suspect that
Philippine is in fact Philip - as that is who is mentioned in the 1870 census from
Burnside. They probably came from Poppeleau, Silesia,
Prussia - as did the other Woychiks, who were right next to them in the boat, and lived next door to them when they homesteaded in
Wisconsin.
I think my great-grandfather was probably father to both men - and he certainly was to the Frank Woychik family, as I was told that Frank was my grandfather's brother. My grandfather emigrated on his own to Independence in 1877 and went to live with the daughter of Frank Woychik - Susanna Woychik
Kulig and her husband Hyacinth. I think (but I am not sure) that there was a sister who came over in 1870 - Susanna Woychik
Filla - and her son John later settled in ND, as did my grandfather.
Your post was a long time ago, but I would be very interested in knowing any more about what you found out about Julia and her family.
