OBITUARY

Karl Schlager, 57. of 1616 N. 10th St. died suddenly early Sunday/at St. Nicholas Hospital after having suffered a heart attack at his home Saturday night.

He was born Jan. 28. 1903 in Germany, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.. Franz Schlager. He came to the United States in 1925 and on Oct. 1. 1927 was united in marriage to Marie Breu at Holy Name Catholic Church.

He was custodian of the Knights of Columbus Home and previously had been employed by the Kohler Co. for 20 years. He was a member of Holy Name Parish, the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and Local 833. UAW, CIO-AFL.

Survivors are his wife, and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Haitz. Mrs. Paula Kastel and Mrs. Anna Ganz, all in Germany. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church following family rites at 9:30 a.m. at Gerend's Funeral Home. The Rev. Anthony J. Knackert, pastor, will be celebrant of the requiem high Mass and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. today until the time of services. Parishioners, members of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus will hold a vigil at the funeral home at 7 o'clock this evening.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Funeral services for Karl Schlager, 57, of 1616 N. 10th St., who died Sunday, were held at 10 a. m. today at Holy Name Church.

The Rev. Anthony J, Knackert, pastor, was the celebrant of the requiem High Mass which followed brief family rites at Gerend's Funeral Home.

The children's choir of Holy Name School sang the funeral mass with Sister Mary Edmund at the organ. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Al Leibham, William Orth, Edward Loersch, Ed Casper, Louis Knier and Allan Jugenheimer.

On Monday evening a joint vigil was held at the funeral home by members of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and prishoners of Holy name. The Rev. Wayne Merchle, curate, led the rosary.
