Edgar Herbert Jung Jr.

Edgar Herbert Jung Jr., age 75, of Gresham, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, at his home.

Edgar was born on Aug. 14, 1930, in the Town of Belle Plaine, the son of the late Edgar H. and Amanda (Schwartz) Jung, Sr. On Nov. 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Velda Hoffman at the St. Elias Lutheran Church. Edgar worked as a cheese maker for many years until 1962, when he and Velda moved onto the farm in Gresham. He was a member of St. Elias Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Edgar was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed being a willing helper.

Edgar is survived by his wife of 54 years, Velda; his four children, Edgar (Faye) Jung III of Clintonville, Bruce L. Jung of Shawano, Brian C. Jung of Gresham, Joy (Tim) Jung-McConley of Madison; six grandchildren, Edgar (Crystal) Jung IV of Caroline, Cathy (Mike) Michonski of Clintonville, Elmer (special friend Cathy Schmidt) Jung of Tigerton, Eric Jung of Clintonville, Grace and Evan McConley of Madison; and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Blake and Kelsee Jung all of Caroline, Chase Jung, Lacey and Jetlyn Michonski and Michael Michonski III all of Clintonville. Edgar is further survived by his sister, Elaine Jahnke of Shawano; two sisters-in-law, Dawn Westphal of Marion, Lillie Ann Hass of Waverly, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Elmer Hoffman, Jr. of Kinston, N.C.; a special sister-in-law, Cathy Hoffman; a special niece, Holly; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Amanda, and his stepfather, Harold Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at St. Elias Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman with the Rev. Doug Helling officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
