Theresa A. Martin, age 66 of Bowler, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006 in Shawano. Theresa was born on July 20, 1939 in Keshena, daughter of the late Henry and Grace (Grignon) Martin. On May 7, 1960 she was united in marriage to Ronald Martin at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Theresa had worked for the Menominee County Clinic and with the Tribal Courts. And most recently, had worked with the Head Start Program and with the Great Lakes Intertribal. She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. Theresa was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed cookouts, her cats, and sitting by the fire pit.
Theresa is survived by: her husband of 46 years, Ronald; her son, Rod (Tracy) Martin of Bowler; a granddaughter, Aylssa; 5 sisters; Augustine Lloyd of Coos Bay, OR, Lorraine “Lola†Boivin of Hortonville, Frances “Jeannie†Pyawasay of Shawano, Clara “Dolly†Stone of Keshena, Grace “Jiggs†Martin of Keshena; 10 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Audrey (Jerry) Frank of Bonduel, Wayne (Janet) Martin of Shawano, Margaret “Peg†(Larry) Drephal of Black Creek, Waldo “Buck†(Karen) Martin of Madison, Vicki (Richard) Doxtator of Bowler, John (Sandy) Martin of Bowler, Francis “Dubbie†(Sue) Martin of Petersfield,, England, Tina Teller of Oneida, Petronell “Pet†Martin of Keshena, Marty Martin of Coos Bay, OR; nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Snowy, Whiskers, and Snickers.
Theresa was preceded in death by: a daughter, her parents; and 2 brothers, Wayne and Franklin “JohnDee†Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 26, 2006 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds. Family and friends may call at the Rod Martin residence located at N9506 Moh He Con Nuck Road in Bowler after 4:00pm on Saturday until the procession leaves for the church on Monday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30pm on Sunday. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
