Robert S. Granquist, Sr.
Robert S. Granquist, Sr., age 80 of Bowler, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 at his home. Robert was born on May 12, 1925 in Norway, MI, son of the late Henning and Mildred (Carlson) Granquist. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. On November 17, 1952 he was united in marriage to Ramona Wilber in Milwaukee. Robert lived most of his adult life in the Bowler area and was a member of the Morgan Siding Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, doing outdoor activities and carpentry work, painting, and watching adventure movies.
Robert is survived by: his wife Ramona; his 9 children, Marge Butler of St. Paul, MN, Robert (Jodell) Granquist, Jr., of Oneida, Rhonda (Craig) Kroening of Stockbridge, Rene (Rodger, Jr.) Cree, of Oneida, Ricky (Stephanie) Granquist of Oneida, Rochelle (Rod) Moede of Green Bay, Roxanne (DuWayne) Mitchell of Marysville, WA, Randean (Yvette) Granquist of Stockbridge, Reatha (Julius) Granquist of Green Bay; 29 grandchildren, Robert, Harvey, Chad, Bradley, Brandon, Shelly, Shannon, Stacey, Steven, Rolanda, Tully, Sheena, Curtis, Ramona, Ricky, Jr., Alyssa, Caitlyn, Burt, Jr., Brandy, Tara, Micah, Michael, Nykia, Tony, Eva, Desiree, Leanna, Autumn, Gordon; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joyce (Bruce) Litscher of Chicago, Jeanni (William) Bree of Manawa; and 1 sister-in-law, Shirley Granquist.
Robert was preceded in death by: 1 granddaughter, Tiffany; 2 great-grandchildren, Nyasia and Joshua; his parents; 1 sister, Dorothy (Bruce) Pelletier; and 1 brother, Jackie Granquist.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Assembly of God Church in Morgan Siding with the Rev. Rodger Cree officiating. Burial will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds with Military Rites conducted by the Mohican Veterans and the Gresham American Legion Post #390. Family and friends may call at the Robert Granquist, Sr. residence located at N8622 Maplewood Road in Bowler after 4:00pm on Wednesday until 9:00am on Thursday and then again at the church on Thursday after 10:00am until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
