Alice M. Guetschow
Alice M. Guetschow, age 75 of Shawano, passed away Monday, October 17, 2005 at a local nursing home. Alice was born on June 23, 1930 in Shawano, daughter of the late Carl and Luella (Schultz) Eggert. On February 20, 1952 she was united in marriage to Earl Guetschow at St. John Lutheran Church – Hermansfort. Together they owned and operated the Guetschow Bar west of Shawano. After Earl’s death on May 20, 1977, Alice ran the bar until retiring after 50 years of operation. She was a life long resident of the area and was a member of Elias Lutheran Church, the Elias Ladies Aid, and a former member of N.E.W.C.A.P. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading and watching the Green Bay Packers. Alice is survived by: 1 daughter, Dawn (Doug) Blashe of Marion; 2 sons, Terry Guetschow of Shawano, Dean (Deanna) Guetschow of Marion; 1 step-son, Duane (Judy) Guetschow of Shawano; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 step great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by: her husband, Earl; 1 son, Todd; her parents; and 1 brother, Melvin Eggert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Elias Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman with the Rev. Howard Buenting officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Wednesday from 4 until 8pm and at the church on Thursday after 10am until the time of the service.
