Viola Long
(May 6, 1901 - January 26, 2005)
Viola Long, age 103, Wittenberg, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
She was born May 6, 1901 in Shepley, WI, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Siebert) Maahs.
On December 11, 1919, Viola was united in marriage to Chancie Long in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1977.
Viola took pride in her homemaking, enjoying gardening, cooking, baking and making preserves. She also enjoyed listening to Milwaukee Brewers games and visits from her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Long, Wittenberg; one daughter, Marcella (Phil Perlongo) Hansen, Muskego; one brother, Robert (Viola) Maahs, Fence, WI; two daughters-in-law, Gerri Long, Green Bay and Sibby Long, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Brad (Paula) Long, Craig (Kathy) Long, Kevin (Sue) Long, Kyle (Kathy) Long, Tim (JoAnn) Long, Paul Long, Scott (Liz) Hansen and Mary (Paul) Gieschen; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by two sons, Vilas and Leonard, one grandson, Edward, two brothers, Roy and Elmer and one sister, Florence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. The Rev. Richard Gildseth will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Friends may call on Saturday from Noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
