Frieda B. Peters, age 102, Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at Birch Hill Healthcare Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past four years.

Frieda B. Peters, age 102, formerly of 112 S. Hamlin St., Shawano, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at Birch Hill Healthcare Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past four years. Frieda was born Jan. 11, 1901, in the Town of Herman, a daughter of the late Gustav and Emma (Nordwig) Hohn. She attended the Hohn School in the Town of Herman. On Nov. 30, 1921 she was united in marriage to Edward R. Peters at Elias Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the Town of Herman for forty years, retiring in 1961. Following retirement the couple moved to Shawano. Edward preceded her in death on May 21, 1963. Frieda had been employed at Heartland Healthcare Center in Shawano as a nursing assistant for 15 years. She had been a good and faithful member of Elias Lutheran Church for her entire life. She served Elias as the first ever Sunday School teacher and taught for many years. She also served with the Ladies Aid. She and her husband boarded the teachers from the Hohn School in their home for
many years. Frieda was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include: her daughter, Phyllis (LaVern ³Bud²) Ziemer of Shawano; grandchildren, Michael (Pam) Ziemer of Rothschild, Karen (Lanny) Peissig of New Brighton, Minn.; great-grandchildren, David (Colleen) Ziemer of Bloomington, Ill, Barbara Ziemer (Special friend Tom Ziegelmeir) of Wausau, Tami (Colin) Farr of Seattle, Wash., Pamela Peissig of St. Paul, Minn.;step-great-grandson, Paul Rye of Wausau; her special niece and nephew, Ellen Fandler of Gresham and Arthur Hohn of Shawano. She was preceded in death by
two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at Elias Lutheran Church, Town of Herman. Pastor Howard Buenting will be officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name for Elias Lutheran Church. Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano is in charge of arrangements. ³The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Birch Hill Healthcare for the compassion and care they provided Frieda the past four years.
