FERDINAND KROENING FATHER OF WELL KNOWN FAMILY DIES IN SENECA AT A RIPE OLD AGE
Ferdinand Kroening, an aged, and respected, and prosperous farmer of the town of Seneca died Tuesday night at 11:00 from heart failure. He lacked but a few weeks of being 83 years old. Mr. Kroening was the father of a large family, one of the boys being August Kroening, secretary in the office of the Farmers Brewing Company. Mr. Kroening was born in Germany, lived to young manhood there, was married there and four of the children, Albert, Ferdinand, Hulda, and Hanna were born there. His wife's maiden name was Ernestina Klebunde. When Mr. Kroening was 30 years old or thereabouts, the family came to America. They landed in Baltimore and lived in that city for a few years. Then they came west and lived for a few years in Chicago. From Chicago they came up to Neenah and after a year or so moved up into Seneca and started the homestead farm.
The children are, Albert of Tilleda, Hulda (Mrs. Fred Schenk) of Tilleda; Ferdinand of Seneca, Hannah (Mrs. John Sieber) on the homestead, William at home, Charles of Seneca, August of this city, Herman of Lyndhurst, Mary (Mrs. Robert Schreiber). Mr. Kroening has been treasurer of his town for several years, and also supervisor of Seneca. For many years he was trustee of his church.
The funeral has not been definitely set, but it is thought most probable that it will be held Saturday at the Lutheran Church in Seneca, of which Rev. Emil Stubenvoll is pastor.
