Monday morning the people of our town were shocked and surprised to learn of the death of Frank Bartel who passed away Sunday of heart disease. He leaves a wife and a number of children to mourn his death.

Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1921

The people of our vicinity were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Frank Bartel who died Sunday evening at 5:00 of heart disease. While he had complained in the afternoon, he was not feeling the way he ought, he sat by the stove and talked with the family, and died all of a sudden. It was a severe shock to Mrs. Bartel and children to pick him up dead. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. Bartel, 2 sons, Paul and Frank who are at home, and 6 daughters, Martha, Mrs. Emil Jeske; Amelia, Mrs. Geo. Seyler of Milwaukee; Alma, Mrs. Aug. Woldt of Bonduel; Alvina and Ella of Milwaukee, and Gertrude who is at home. Besides his wife and children there are also 4 brothers, Albert Bartel of Gresham, Wm. Bartel of New York, and 2 brothers in Germany.

The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at St. Elias Lutheran church. The pallbearers were: August Dey, Wm., Fred and Gust Hohn, Charley Kucksdorf and F.W. Schmidt. May he rest in peace.
