Louis Burr, Jr.
Louis Burr, Jr., 76, of Gresham, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 in Shawano.
Born on Dec. 17, 1932 in the Town of Red Springs, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Gardner) Burr Sr. Louis was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. On April 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Wedde in Ellsworth. Louis worked at the paper company in Appleton and later at Phoenix Door Manufacturing in Shawano. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family. Louis also had a love of tractors.
Louis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anna Mae; his three children, Ronald “Bee” (Dawn) Burr of Alaska, Wayne Burr of Bowler, Janell Burr of Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Brandi (William) Dove, Stormy (Kylee) Dodge, Joey Wheeler, Wesley Burr, Breeze Guthrie, Rita Newman, Devin Newman; and four great-grandchildren, McKenzee, Kyla, Wylee, and Bertina. Louis is further survived by five brothers, Jerry Burr of Minn., Sidney Burr of Bowler, Burdette Burr of Bowler, William (Patricia) Burr of Gresham, Robert (Georgia) Burr of Green Bay; and four sisters, Leona Bowman of Gresham, Jeanette (Bob) Christopherson of Green Bay, Donna Bork of Gresham, and Jermain (Woody) Davids of Bowler.
Louis was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie; his parents; four brothers, Gordon Burr, Ralph “Doc” Burr, Boyd Burr, Bud Burr; and two sisters, Berga Burr and June Coyhis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness in Bowler with Melinda Shriner officiating. Burial will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds in the Town of Bartelme. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
