Decorah, Gary

Gary Decorah, Co-Su-Ma-Ga, (Great Thunder), 50, Barbaboo, Wis., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his residence following a battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at 1 p.m. at PotcCinuk community Center in Wittenberg with Morgan WhiteEagle officiating. Burial will be at the John Stacy Memorial Cemetery in Wittenberg Township. Visitation will be held at the Native American Church on Hwy. 12, near Lyndon Station, Wis., on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, beginning at 4 p.m. and on Tuesday at PotcCinuk Community Center at Wittenberg beginning at 4 p.m.

Gary was born Sept. 9, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Melvin and Phyllis (Doxtator) Decorah. He grew up in Chicago and about 25 years ago moved to Wisconsin Dells and for the past ten years lived in Green Bay, Wis. Gary liked to live a "free spirit" lifestyle that went together with his enjoyment of riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed pow wows and being around people and was concerned and cared for his family that he loved very much.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Rebekka RedCloud, Tomah, Wis.; grandchildren, Michael Mashka and Ariana Addison; brothers, Leonard Smith, Allsip, Ill.; and Glen (Crystal) Decorah of Black Creek, Wis.; sisters, Gloria Decorah, Baraboo, Wis.; and Gladys Decorah, Green Bay; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
