Mabel A. Otto

Mabel A. Otto, age 94, of Shawano, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007.

Born on Nov. 5, 1913, in the Town of Grant, she was the daughter of the late August and Frieda (Ebert) Grosskopf. On her 19th birthday, she was united in marriage to Harry Otto in Caroline and together the couple lived on the Otto Homestead in the Town of Herman. Harry preceded her in death on July 19, 1982. Three years later, Mabel moved to Shawano where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of Elias Lutheran Church and the Women of the Church. Mabel was also a member of the A.A.R.P., the Golden Agers, and the Silver Foxes Exercise Club. She loved reading, walking, visiting with friends, quilting, and all things in nature including bird watching and growing flowers.

Mabel is survived by: six children, Diane (Ed) Sleger of Kewaskum, Iris (Jerrold) Bents of Shawano, Dale (Lisa) Otto of Green Bay, Timothy (Sheila) Otto of Pella, Stanley (Clara) Otto of Shawano, Bruce Otto of Shawano; a son-in-law, Sanford Hoffman of Shawano; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Stueck and June (Wally) Pederson, all of Shawano; one brother, Luverne (Beatrice) Grosskopf of Neenah; special friends, Clara Post, Loretta Kasza, Mark Marciniak. Mabel was preceded in death by: her husband, Harry; one daughter, Carol Hoffman; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Harris; a brother, Herbert Grosskopf.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Elias Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman with the Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday after 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mom was committed to honoring The Lord in her life through her love and service to her family and others. We will miss you Mom.
