Town of Navarino Farmer Dies After Working On Hay Field
Leeman-- Oscar Rasmussen, 57, died at his home in the town of Navarino early Saturday morning after having been ill but a few hours. He had been working all day Friday in the hayfield and his death is believed to have been due to the excessive heat. Besides the widow four daughters and one son survive. They are Mrs. Henry Sherbeck, Navarino; Misses Clara, Ruth and Rosalia, Chicago, and Louis, at the home. Funeral services were conducted at one o'clock Monday afternoon from the residence and at 1:30 from the Bethesda Congregational Church in Navarino by the Rev. E. E. Seger.

Rasmussen Funeral Is Conducted at Navarino
Leeman -- Funeral services for Oscar Rasmussen were conducted at one o'clock from the residence at Navarino and at 1:30 the Bethesda Congregational Church by the Rev. E. E. Seger. Bearers were: Emil Larson, Oliver Thompson, Oscar Nelson, Nels Nelson, Amond Olson and Ludwig Olson. Flower bearers were; Kenneth Rasmussen and Lester Johnson, Esther and Clara Amundson. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Rasmussen was born May 30, 1880, and the town of Navarino where he had lived practically all his life. He married Carrie Amundson of that place.
Mr. Rasmussen, who died unexpectedly the morning of July 10 at his farm home on Highway 156, was a member of the Congregational Church in Navarino, where he served as deacon for many years. Survivors are his widow; four daughters and one son, Mrs. Olga Sherbeck, Navarino; Clara, Ruth and Rosalia, Chicago; and Louis, at home. Two grandchildren, Marvin and Carl Sherbeck; four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Johnson, Winchester; Mrs. Palma Murray and Mrs. Evelyn Berry, Chicago; Mrs. Elizabeth Springer, Navarino and a brother, Peter also of Navarino.
