David Roger Murphy, age 52, of Appleton, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at his home. David was born on August 26, 1954 in Shawano, the son of the late Ervin and Charlotte “Lottie” (Fraley) Murphy. He worked as a special education teacher for many years at the Bowler High School. David then went on to run his own D.J. business known as Rock-N-Roll Revival where he enjoyed playing at benefits. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness.
David is survived by: his 4 children, Mindy Murphy of Shawano and her children, Deven Boyd and Shawn Tourtillott, Shawn Barnes of Shawano, Duane Murphy of Madison, Millie Murphy of Fond du Lac; and 4 brothers, Ervin “Jim” of Bowler, Gary of Shawano, Raymond (Kerry) of Bowler, and Wayne (Mary) of Bowler.
David was preceded in death by: his daughter, Meredith Murphy; his parents; and one brother, Robert.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness in Bowler with the Rev. Stephen Shriner officiating. Inurnment will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds in the spring. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday from 4 until 8pm and at the church on Friday after 10am until the time of the service.
