Oscar J. Pigeon, "Loha cho sho mani ga" (Leader of Many), age 94, died on Tuesday, May 15. 2001 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.

He was born on September 6. 1906 in Wittenberg the son of the late John and Annie (Wallace) Pigeon. On June 19, 1945 he married Helen Decorah. She preceded him in death on April 12, 1976. He then married Bernice Miller in March of 1979. She survives. Oscar was known as a jack-of-all-trades and was a teacher to members of his community.

In addition to his wife. Bernice, Oscar is survived by 5 grandchildren: 2 great-grand-children; nephews, Immanuel Johnson. Martin Littlewolf Jr.. Thomas Prescott, Curtis Prescott, Duane Prescott; nieces, Julia Littlewolf, Annette Littlewolf, Martina Falcon, Serena Yellowthunder. Audrey Vidana, Nellie Littlewolf, Barbara Littlewolf, Nancy Prescott, Bonnie Smith, step-children, Nathan Cloud, Eugene Cloud, Al (Bonnie) Miller, Linda (Harvey) Kroening, Sheila (Matt) Powless, Leah Miller, Dick (Pat) Miller, Kristy (Randy) Malone, Molly (Bob) Miller, Carl (Anita) Miller, Tammy (Rod) Pecore and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his first wife and parents, Oscar was preceded in death by a son Daniel and brothers and sisters, Frank Pigeon, Martin Littlewolf Sr., Sarah Johnson and Minnie Prescott and step-children, Evon Johnson, Wilfred Cloud, Wilber Cloud and Babe Miller.

Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the Potch Chee Nunk Community Center. Wittenberg. Interment was in the Native American Cemetery, Wittenberg. Schmidt - Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
