Death of Hiram Spencer an Old Pioneer
DIED.--July 30, 1889, of kidney disease, Mr. Hiram Spencer, who would have been 72 years of age had he lived until the 27 day of next month.
Although Mr. Spencer has been suffering from disease for several years his sudden death struck a chill to the hearts of his many relatives and friends in this place where he has been a constant and highly respected citizen for over 40 years he being one of the very first founders of Evansville. He, as well as several brothers, who have made this place their life home, have always stood as substantial pillars of honor and integrity throughout their entire lives in building up and cherishing the good name of our little city and as age creeps on and one by one drop away we feel a substantial loss never to be regained.
Scattering relatives in Milwaukee, Waupaca, and other places have been notified and are expected to be in attendance at the funeral which will be held at the house tomorrow, Aug. 1st, 1889, at 2 o'cloc p.m. with Rev. O. M. VanSwearengen offciating clergyman. All will turn out to attend the funeral of Uncle Hiram.
