Mrs. Eva Jones Spencer, widow of the late Lewis Spencer, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George L. Pullen, last Monday, October 5, 1903.
Mrs. Spencer was a native of Pennsylvania, but spent the greater part of her life here where she gathered about her a wide circle of friends. Since the death of her husband she has made her home at the Pullen's and has given much of her later years to reading and study and was perhaps best known to the club women with whom she has worked for the past nine years. Among them as with all who knew her she was greatly valued as a counsellor.
The funeral occurred from the house, Thursday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Gilmore of Madison, officiating. In the beautiful tribute he paid to the deceased all present received consolation.
The deceased leaves one son and two daughters, besides a host of friends to regret her death.
