I hope one of the very kind people of Richland County would check a death record on my gg-grandmother Emily Wallace.

I am interested in he birth location, cause of death, and her parents name.

I will state up front, that her death could have been filed in Vernon county...but she was a resident of Richland County.

This is her burial record:

Thompson's Bender Cemetery
Aka "Old" Hopewell
Forest Township, Richland County, Wisconsin USA

WALLACE, Amelia 1835 1877 04-21-1877
Married Samuel Wallace. Aged 42 years.

What a goldmine that Richland County Cemetery website is! I feel very fortunate that so much information I have needed has been found there. Honestly, I have never seen another county that has something that complete freely shared.

Thanks!
Joan Clouse

Interested in information on the family of Vincent Stanczyk and his wife Konrada (surname perhaps Scagsfoski) who settled in Richland County, WI around 1880. They had five children that I'm aware of...
1. Martin, born November 1861 who married Ida and had at least 2 children (Martin Vincent and Lela G.) This was Ida's 2nd marriage, her first husband was a Johnson.
2. Anton, born Aug 1867, who married Mary Kate "Mollie" Withral. They had at least four children (Elma, Clement, Mary Jennie, and one that died young). Anton and his wife are both buried in Dawson Cemetery. He died in 1932, she died in 1923.
3. Antionette, who married George Young, they lived in Todd County, MN. I have additional information on this line.
4. Catherine, born 29 Sep 1877, who married John M. Smith. They had two children that I know of, Ina Gertrude and Isolene M. John and Catherine are both buried in Mayfield Cemetery in Richland, WI. He died 17 Jan 1945, she died 10 Aug 1943. Isolene is also buried in Mayfield Cemetery, her married name was Kent. Ina Gertrude married a man named Yahnke.
5. Licadifa or Lichadila (not sure of spelling on this), born in Aug 1879. Specifically a couple articles about their small daughter Minnie being burned in a fire at her school.
Would there be photos of this family? In a library, or newspaper, etc.?

Hiantha and Joesph lived in Richland County in 1885 when her mother, Esther Fickes, died near Fairchild, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I still cannot find where Esther is buried. Any help there?

She living with her son, James Tanner, in Richland Co during the 1900 US Census and with her daughter, Julia (wife of Benjamin Schoonover), in Lisbon township, Juneau Co WI during the 1905 WI census. She is not found on the 1910 US census. I believe she died 23 Oct 1906 in Juneau Co WI. Is there anyone in Juneau Co. or Richland Co. WI, who could verify this for me and possibly find out where she is buried? Julia & her husband, Benjamin Schoonover are buried in cemetery in New Lisbon WI. Elizabeth is not buried in the cemeteries where either of her husbands were buried. I would appreciate any information about this. If anyone could provide an obituary of her, that would also be appreciated. Thank you
I recently read a rumor that a decendant of Sarah Louisa Tadder told her relatives that her Grandma Sarah was half Native American. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is any truth to this, and if so where the Native American part came from. (My daughter is really hoping she can tell her friends that she is part Native American...!)

BTW, Sarah Tadder is my g-g-g-grandmother

Looking for information on LeRoy Bunn was born about 1843 in New York. He was a farmer according to the 1860 Census of Buena Vista, Richland County, Wisconsin. His father was Samuel Dennis Bunn born April 18, 1810 in Roxbury, Morris County, New Jersey. It is thought that Samuel and Sally (Griswold) Bunn got married about 1850 in Buena Vista, Richland County, Wisconsin probably(his second wife) - they also were in the census that year (I have not seen this census). They are also in the 1855 census in Buena Vista.

Any help with this family is appreciated, Linda
lindajcox3@hotmail.com

William Richardson

Mr. William Richardson, a very prominent citizen of Richland City, was instantly killed on the 13th. In attempting to spring upon a timber elevated about six feet up on 2 upright points for the purpose of seasoning lumber, the entire frame work gave way, throwing him on the ground with much force, the timber striking him on the head and fracturing his skull, causing instant death. -- Exchange

Mr. Richardson was a son-in-law of Mr. Levi Taggart, of Evansville. We think Mr. Richardson lived in Wyoming Valley instead of Richland City, as above. A telegram informed the friends here of the casualty and who joined the bereaved family, by the Saturday night train one week ago.

April 26, 1871, Evansville Review, p. 2, Evansville, Wisconsin

Can someone tell me if any documention of the original records of the Ash Creek Church on Ash Creek in Richland County were sent to a record documentation center for keeping in the event that the church was destroyed. In Germany the copies of records were sent to the Bishops of the parishes. Did that follow true with German Churchs in the United States. Catherine Dorsey

I am looking for volunteers to transcribe cemeteries in Richland County. U.S. GenWeb has an ongoing transcription project that has been very useful to many, including me. If you're interested, the details are at the following link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/index.html

Here is the Richland County link:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/wisconsin/richla.htm

This is a great summer project. I have done several in Ogle County, Illinois and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Please join us to make this project successful. Be sure to contact me if you choose to transcribe a cemetery so we don't duplicate our efforts.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Thank you.

My gg grandparents were Charles Dove and Amanda Creed. They lived in Rockbridge in 1860. I'm trying to prove my gg grandfather Charles Dove was a brother to Edwin A. and James Dove. In the 1880's Edwin and James owned a business called Dove Brothers. All three men were born in New York and had parents who were born in England. Edwin and James did have a brother named Charles and their parents names were Charles and Mary. They lived in Saint Lawrence Co. New York before coming to Richland County. Charles and Amanda had a son named Edwin Allen and a daughter named Mary, my great grandmother. These are the reasons why I believe Charles is related to Edwin and James Dove. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also trying to connect my gg grandmother Amanda Creed to Daniel and Lydia Creed who lived nearby in Rockbridge in 1860. I suspect Amanda was Daniel and Lydia's daughter. Amanda was born in Vermont and Daniel and his son Lyman were also born in Vermont. Daniel, Lydia and Lyman were living in Saint Lawrence Co. NY in 1850. Amanda was not listed with them in the census. So far I can't find Amanda any where in the 1850 census.

My detective work might be wrong but I don't think so. Any information on these families would be so awesomely appreciated and I'm ready to share what info. I have. Thank you.

Mark George

My Clarsons come from Tamworth, Staffs, and my earliest record is the marriage of James CLARSON to Mary BELL in 1739.

Two members of this family emigrated to Richland Co, WI in the late 1850s. They were James Willis CLARSON and his wife Mary Jane VAN ALSTINE (who later moved to Baltimore, Maryland); and his brother John CLARSON and John's wife Anna COOK. John and Anna's children were James Sidney; John; Henry Robert; Annie May and Charles Arthur.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has a CLARSON connection.
Jean

Abram MILLER - Obit 1916

New Plymouth Sentinel
New Plymouth, Idaho
Thursday, November 16, 1916

Death of Aged Man

(Richland, Wisconsin, Democrat.)
The death of Abram Miller, who has been a patient at the city hospital for several weeks and who underwent an operation for the removal of one of his limbs ten days since, occurred Saturday afternoon last, the 21st inst. He had been making such favorable progress that relatives and physicians had great hopes of his ultimate recovery, but Saturday morning a change took place which caused the summoning of those near to him, and late in the afternoon he breathed his last.

Deceased was a native of Kentucky, born in Fleming county, December 14, 1832 being 83 years and 10 months of age. When a babe he moved to Marion county, Indiana, where his boyhood days were spent. In 1854 at the age of 22 years, he came to Richland county, which was then in its pioneer days and where he wrought his home and competence. He was united in marriage October 30th, 1855, with Louisa A. Jones, who preceded him to the unknown several years since. This union was blessed with four daughters, Mrs. Martha Sigrist, of the town of Orion, Mrs. Ella Cox, of New Plymouth, Idaho, Mrs. Elizabeth McClintock, of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Emma Benham, of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska all of whom were with their father in his last days and attended the last sad rites. Mr. Miller enlisted in the fall of 1862, and served his country until the close of the civil war. He was in every sense of the word a good man a man who followed the dictates of conscience and did as near as possible for frail humanity, as he would be done by.

Funeral services were held from the Pratt funeral parlors Monday afternoon, interment taking place at the city cemetery. The funeral address was made by his old comrade, Rev. Hood, and the services at the cemetery were under direction of the G.A.R.
