My gr-gr-grandfather James Black came from Ireland in 1861, through Canada, to WI and married Catherine Meehan in Menominee in 1869, she also emigrating from Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada. The little house they first lived in in the Cedar Falls valley still stands, and a farm up on the hill in Arkansaw is still owned by Blacks. We have a pretty good accounting of the offspring of the Black family. I would invite any of my Pepin Co. area relatives to contact me, or any researchers to ask me to look up their family name in my extensive database of WI names that married into my family lines.
