George E Olsen Born Feb 7th 1862 Died July 10th 1936. He had a Farm in Stephenson Township Marinette Co Wisconsin,
I was not able to find death certificate in Marinette Co.
Im hoping there is a death Certificate here. George Olsen is Buried in Pine Hill Cemetery Middle Inlet Marinette Wisconsin.

lookups for Proulx, Prue, etc in Oconto

I am looking to fill in the many holes I have in my Proulx family in Oconto. My great grandfather was Frank (Francis) Proulx, but not much is know about him besides his birth (May 31, 1861) and death info (Dec 6, 1940), and who he was married to (Clara Paquin).

I have a good amount of censuses from Oconto with the Proulx, name, but there seem to be a lot of holes. I know that Frank and Clara actually got married in Somerset, St. Croix County, as that is where her family is from. But the couple must have lived in Oconto because their daughter, Margaret, was born there.

Part of the problem is, Frank and Clara were married about a year, Margaret was born, and then a month later Clara died. For the most part Frank was not seen and pretty much no mention was made of him. My grandmother ended up living with her mother's family, so might not even show up as having lived in Oconto.

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me to fill in the blanks, I would appreciate it.

Looking for death info on Edward Sargent. Edward was born c1844 in New Brunswick to Thomas & Johannnah. 1870-1885 finds him in Oconto with 2 brothers. I can not find him for certain after that. His wife, Elizabeth O'Flynn, states that she is married in 1900 but widowed by 1910. Edward is not listed with the family after 1885.
His brothers, Henry & James Sargent and their families are mentioned often in Oconto and Church articles, but I have not found any leads on Edward. The family was prominent in lumbering in the Oconto area.
Edward's wife and daughter, Helen, moved to Milwaukee by 1900.
Any info appreciated.

Pommeranians settled in the Town of Gillett near Immanuel Lutheran Church in the 1880s. I'd like to know what immigration route they took from Kreis Neustettin. Do you have family stories? Oral history says men came, built a house, then his wife & children traveled with another male immigrant the next year. How did they travel from New York to Gillett? Settler's names are BATZER, STERN, BUBOLZ, MANSKE, ZIEMER, and SHUSTER.

James Armstrong and Martha Gilmore were both born in Ont.,
Canada were married in Croton, Newaygo County, Michigan. In the 1880`s they moved to Wisconsin, after looseing 3 children to Diptheria. Not long after there move Martha`s Father Henry Gilmore and a Son, believed to be Darwin
Metney Gilmore moved his family to Oconto County, Wisconsin in 1886.It is believed that the Gilmore`s and Armstrongs lived in How, with grandchildren in Suring, Wis. Any information on these family`s would be muchly appreciated.

REuben NORTON bought a number of acres in Oconto County in 1858. Mary NORTON was born in Oconto County on November 22, 1880. Was she related to Reuben? Who were her parents. She married Leonard Steffen in Oconto on April 20 1898. Her obiturary (d. January 7, 1943) says she had 3 surviving sisters; Mrs Arthur Casson and Mrs. Ben Drasen both from Marinette and Mrs. Tena Swaer from Little Suamico.

FEZATTE, KING

I am seeking information on two families that I know were in the Oconto County area in the 1860's and 70's. First is the Fezatte family. This name is variously spelled Fizette, Fisette, Fezette, or Fezatts. John B. Fezatts, born 1838 in Green Bay was married to Josephine. They had a family that included Victor ca. 1866, John J. ca. 1871, Napoleon, and Lillian. There was also a boy named Ed who may have been from a second marriage. Family lore has it that John B. Fezatts owned a trading post in the area at the time. John B. Fezatts died in Jan. 1899 probably in Marinette County, WI. He was 1/2 to 1/4 Menominee Indian and there is some indication that his wife Josephine may also have been Menominee.

The other family I am seeking is the King family. James A. King b. 20 Aug. 1844 in NY and his wife Olivia (Olive) Myers b. 18 Apr. 1848 in NY. They moved to Peshtigo, WI sometime prior to Mar. of 1870. Their children included John Henry b. 27 Mar. 1870, James Edward b, 20 Mar. 1872, William W.,b. 12 Dec. 1873, and Alida b. 22 Mar. 1876. All these children were born in Peshtigo. Alida married John J. Fezatte in 1889 probably also in the area. They are my maternal great grandparents.

Any information or clues as to sources for the family would be appreciated. I lose the Fezatte line from the 1850 census in Green Bay until they appear again in MI in about 1920.

Would appreciate assistance with Obit lookup for my gggrandfather. Death certificate lists him as "tavern keeper" in Oconto City, Oconto Co. Wisconsin. Died at age 38 on March 26, 1890. He was born November 3, 1852 in Canada. Wife Elinore Calore/Lenore Pollard. Children Joseph, Lenore, William, Redna (my ggrandmother), Henry, Walter.

It seems an early death for a non-logger, hoping it was memorable enough to be published.

Thomas Coulard, age 45, born Maine
Jacob Coulard, age 44, born Maine

Previous census records for Jacob "Jackson" Couillard show that both his parents were born in Maine. Jacob and his wife (she was born in Vermont) did have a son Jacob (age matches) but the state of birth of parents doesn't match. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The girls variously spelled their last name as follows on marriage records in Menominee Co MI: LEUERVILLE, LINNEVILLE, LANERVILLE. The girls names were Mary (b 1870?), Phoebe (b 1873?) and Elizabeth (b. 1877). They left Oconto sometime between 1877 and 1887 and moved to Stephenson in Menominee Co MI. The name eventually became spelled LANAVILLE. None of their marriage records indicate the names of their parents. I would like to know their parents' names and any other information on their parents that may be available. The girls may have had other siblings, I am not sure. I am trying to find out about my grandfather and his family. His name was John SMITS. He lived in Lena and owned the Maple Valley Hotel or Smits Hotel. He was married to Helen MATHEY. They had four children that lived Lillian, Edna, Howard and John (Jack). My grandfather died around 1933. I know before he had the hotel he was a foreman in a lumber camp in Michigan.

I am looking for any information on the Pelishek family of the Lena area. My great-grandmother, Louise Emma Pelishek married Simon Hynek and had seven children. Two were still-born.

Simon Hynek was born 16 Sept. 1875. He died in 1946 in Lena and is buried in the St. Charles Cemetery, Lena. Wisconsin.

He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in (1949) I believe.
He has at least one older sister and a younger brother that I can recall. Frank was studying and playing basketball at the college there in NewPaltz in the mid 1950's.

Am looking for the siblings of John P. Seymour b.1814. He arrived in Peshtigo in 1840 and entered the employ of Bailey, Leavenworth & Jones owners of a lumber mill. In 1862 he bought land and built a farm. He was married in Peshtigo in 1842 ( I would love any thing on his wedding - article if there are such things) to a Miss Palmacoche. He served as postmaster of Peshtigo for 21 years and was justice of the peace.

Hello, looking for any info on Gillet, WI's Joe Melchior; was Postmaster in early 1900's around 1913. Francis was Joe's sister and worked for him. Met Ed Randerson, an insurance/real estate salesman from Gillet. Married Oct. 1913 had three children. Ed may have been the fire chief of Gillet. Have a picture of him in uniform. Francis played the organ at Catholic Church, they lived right near church.

Henry and Eli born in NY as was Pollie, b. 1814. Think they might be her brothers. She came out with her husband Phineas Burt and family abt. 1863 and settled in Lawrence Twp. Phineas and Pollie daughters Anna Jeanette Burt (Garrett) Snider and Eliza Ann Burt (Giles) Phillips moved to Hickory, Oconto Co. between 1880 and 1900 as they are in 1900 Oconto Co. Census. Trying to trace back Pollie's family. Here mother, Sarah Polly, married a Pittsley and moved to Crawford Co., WI in 1850.

An online family tree has a marriage to Malvina Chevalier in Oconto on 4 July 1896. Also listed is the birth of a son Joseph Phileas Alphonse Picard on 30 March 1897.

Malvina Chevalier was first married to Hormsidas Plante in Ste. Leon le Grand 1879. In 1910 she married Elzear Bernard in Three Rivers, Massachusetts. I am trying to confirm information regarding the second marriage and child.

Malvina was my husband's great great grandmother. No one in the family knew of a marriage to Ferdinand Picard in Wisconsin.

FRANK PELNAR DROWNED - Former Resident Accidently Drowned In Westcott Lake.
Frank Pelnar, a former resident of Carlton, was accidently drowned in Westcott Lake near Spruce on Saturday last. Just how the accident happened is not known, but it is thought that he accidently fell out from a boat in which he was fishing alone, as the craft was found right side up and free from water.
But ten minutes had elapsed between the time he was last seen and the noticing of the empty boat. His son John almost lost his life in trying to recover the body by diving.
Frank Pelnar was born in the Town of Carlton in Kewaunee county in 1865 where he grew to manhood. In the fall of 1890 he was married to Sophie Hlawacek, also of the Town of Carlton, and to this union were born seven children. In 1893 the Pelnar's moved to Spruce where they have since resided.
Both his parents are dead and he had but one brother, James, who is engaged in the grocery business in Menominee.
(Note: Wescott Lake is 5 miles west of Klondike, Wisconsin)

I am looking for any info on a Peter Peterson. Was supposed to have died in Oconto County in 1907. He was born in Sweden in 1825. Wife's name was Johanna. Children were Louisa (m. My wife and I are trying to do our family trees and I have hit a brick wall on my FIFAREK roots. I am the great-grandson of Anthony Fifarek (b. 4-30-1887 & d. 12-19-1967) who was married to Kathryn Andine in 1914. They lived in Traverse City, MI & had my grandpa Russell & his brother Gerald. My grandpa married Joyce Nash & they had 4 children ( Russell, Raymond, Scott<my dad>, & Debra). I would like any information about Anthony's Parents & anyone/thing else from their past.
I was told that there were 3 Fifarek brothers who came over from Bohemia (dates unknown). 1 went to Michigan, 1 went to Wisconsin & 1 went to either Illinois or Indiana. NOW, whether this information is true or not is beyond me but it's all I have to work with so I have to believe it until I am proven wrong. I hope someone out there has the information I need.

My GGrandfather was Carl Augustus Johnson of Sweden. The story I was told was that he traveled back 3 times to Sweden before Cecelia Hammer agreed to marry him and come to America. Supposedly had 2 brothers who were doctors who "supposedly" went off to Russia and were never heard from again. My Gfather, Lester Wallace Johnson was supposed to be born in Wisconsin, Oct. 1901? I seem to remember him speaking about Oconto (?) He married Sudie Lee Colson and died in 1983 in Jacksonville, FL. I'm operating in the blind. Any leads would be appreciated.

1920 Fed census has them in Oconto Co., Oconto Falls, WI.
Alfred age 63. Missing thereafter. Parents should be Stephen and Harriet.

A date of death and birth along with death burial and cause of death for both Alfred and Sarah would be fantastic!

BONUS: Any info regarding daughter Dorothy Hibbard. She probably got married in Oconto during the 1920's and died??? Any death cert details (includ birth stats) and marriage details would be great!

Francois Brazeau (B:1829, D:1917) was my 3rd great-grandfather and heand his family came to Oconto in 1880 from Canada. He was a merchant and owned the store Brazeau Brothers, then later Brazeau and Son.
According to his obit. he was considered a pioneer resident. I have been researching the Brazeaus' for about a year and I am having trouble finding information in Canada, rather I am not really sure how to go about it. I am familiar with the Brazeau line from Francois on down and have information to share if anyone else is interested.

August Fridlund and Karl Fridlund emigrated to Armstrong in Oconto county from Sweden in 1901 and 1903. I have found them in the census for Armstrong for 1910, 1920, 1930. The lastname is spelled in serveral ways, Fridlund, Fredlund, Friedlund, Friedland.

I found that Martin and sister Augusta both were married in Oconto County and that Martin was living in the town of Spruce by 1910. Martin was married to Emma F. I'm looking for any family information on a Joseph Crawford, born 1832 in New York and moved to Wisconsin. It is known that he was in the Union Army's 12th Wisconsin Regiment and I have found a Joseph C. Crawford in Company F's roster. That roster shows that Crawford enlisted in Oconto and that he was mustered out in 1864. Crawford again appears in California in 1875, which is where my research is centered.

I am also interested in what Crawford did for employment before and after the war.
