Eileen Haensgen (b. 30 Nov. 1898, d. 14 May 1972) and her brother, Raymond Haensgen (b. 9 Apr 1900, d. 10 Aug. 1966) are both buried in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake.

I'm wondering if their mother, Johanna Reagan Haensgen, is buried there. She was born in Aug 1870 and died sometime between 1900 and 1905. Also wondering what her birth, death, and burial dates and places are. She married Joseph Haensgen at St. Patrick Church in Ripon on 8 Jun 1897. They lived in Calvary Station, Marshfield Twp, Fond du Lac Co., but I can find no record of death there.

Thanks for checking.

Dennis Burke of Marquette/Kingston

I'm looking for information on Dennis Burke (b. 1801, Ireland, d. 1900), and his brother John, who moved into the Marquette/Kingston area prior to 1851 (they first appear on the Wisconsin census of 1855 and his first child was born in WI in abt. 1851). He was married to Johanna Grady (b. 1830, Ireland, d. 1892). These are their children:
John b. abt 1851, WI
Julia b. 1854, WI m. Wm Inglis
Anna b. 1855, WI
Dennis b. 1857, WI
Josephine b. abt 1860, WI
Yulic b. 1862, WI m. Anna Priske
Johanna b. 1862, WI m. Henry Hewitt
Walter b. 1863
Charles b. 1866
I've done extensive research on the Burke, Leahy, Priske, Quillinan families in the Marquette/Kingston area but the Burkes are particularly puzzling because both Dennis and Johanna had passed away before the 1900 census so I don't know when they immigrated, I don't know where they came from in Ireland, and I don't know how they entered the United States. I'm also unsure of which John Burke in the Marquette/Kingston area is Dennis' brother because there are two listed on the census records.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I am looking for more information including church records on my Borman/Bormann family. They arrived in Green Lake county in the early 1860's and lived in Marquette and Princeton. The parents Gotlieb and Frederica/Johanna had 5 children born between 1849 and 1864, Mary, Charles/Karl, August, Ernestine and Herman.

I suspect they attended St John's Lutheran Church in Princeton. Gotlieb and Johanna got divorced about 1880. Mary married August Hoeft and then they also got divorced around 1901 after having 6 girls.

I am interested in any marriage/divorce records and birth/ baptism records anyone has on this family. Thank you for your help.

Dan
Buchholz250@gmail.com

I am looking for a burial of a removed ancester that I actually know little about. His name is Lorenzo Harrison Sergeant(Sargent) He was b. 1841 in Amboy, Oswego Co., NY

I am quite certain he died by the age 23 or abt that time of 1863. What Ceemtery in Green Lake would he be buried if they livied in Green Lake, Green Lake Co, and the nearset Post office on the 1860 census said Markesan? Anyone out there familiar with which cemetery I should check in that area?

I live in WI, so when the weather gets better I'd like to drive back to Green Lake Co, and do a little research. I don't see many sources on this site I should check.

I only know they were in Green Lake in the 1860 census, and his father was William Sargent.

By trade he was a millwright, served in the Civil War--was born in New York, Lewis County. Does anyone have any info on what happened to him after 1870? Thanks.

Am trying to establish what happened on July 4, 1873, on Green Lake. Result was referred to in the paper account of their memorial service a month later, as "The Green Lake Disaster." Persons drowned included Martha E. Thompson (married last name: Carman)(age 37), her married sister Elizabeth C. Thompson (married last name: Russell) (age 30), and Elizabeth's daughter Mary F. Russell (age 7).
Both married sisters were daughters of the late Rev. Robert Thompson and Lovina Avery. Lovina Avery (married name: Thompson) died sometime after the June 3, 1880 census. From the wording of the memorial service obituaries, as reprinted in the paper, it does not sound like they were recovered.

I am working on many sides of my tree and my husbands and am looking for more information in regards to his paternal grandmother. ETHEL P. NELSON nee' BONNELL.

Here is the information that I do have in regards to her;

Born December 27, 1899 in Green Lake, WI. Attended schools in Green Lake. Married Hugh B. Nelson on August 28, 1919 in Green Lake. (They later moved to Sheboygan & Port Washington I believe). I have no names or dates of her parents but I do know that she had some siblings. Not sure of how many. LORETTA (BONNELL) CURRAN, FLORENCE BONNELL and EARL BONNELL. Ethel passed away November 6, 1995 @ St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. At the time of her death, she had 26 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 3 nieces.

So this has been a daunting task. If anyone has any information they wouldn't mind sharing, I would be VERY grateful!
Michelle
tazcoco72@gmail.com

I would be so VERY grateful if someone might have time to look up an obit for my Amanda Melvina McLaughlin Drake b. May,1856. I have her in the May 2, 1910 census living at 409 Moore St in Berlin, Green Lake, WI. I also have her buried at Nepeuskin with a death date of May 24, 1910. She could be shown as Mrs. William A Drake? I have been researching her or 13 years without much info as I am here in Oregon and unable to dig around in Berlin. I believe that I know her parents to be Geo and Sarah McLaughlin whom she is buried with. I am really hoping to find out several other things in her obit such as how she died, an exact birthdate and info on her children and siblings. Wouldn't be fantastic if there was a photo of her? I know, not likely. Anyway, I someone has easy access to the area newspaper archives, I just could not thank you enough for helping me with her!!
I should mention that I have seen her as Melvina, Amanda, Mellie, Nellie and Mandy - so just about any nickname you could make of her first and middle names.

Thank You Times 1,000!

Erin

Jan became John Bernart and his wife Anna appears to have died around 1880-1900. John remarried three times - Juliana, Augustina, and Mary(anna) before his death in 1923 and burial in St Michael's cemetery. Other names involved with this family are Mioskowski, Piepiorka, Davis, and Gibbs.

I am searching for information on my great grandparents and their children:
August Krueger	b: January 31, 1825 in Prussia	d: June 06, 1877 in Faribault County Minnesota. He was married to Augusta--b: February 19, 1819 in Prussia d: March 13, 1888 in Faribault County Minnesota. Their children were: 1)Gustav Kruger b: Abt. 1855 in Wisconsin or Prussia; 2) Julia Ann Krueger b: March 31, 1860 in Princeton, Wisconsin? d: Dec. 16, 1927 in Blue Earth County, Mankato, Minnesota. Julia married Gustave Ewendt [b: June 16, 1848 in Prussia d: January 26, 1928 in Blue Earth , Minnesota]; 3)Mary Kruger b: Abt. 1863 in Wisconsin.
There may also be some relationship to Wilhemine Krueger Rau b. 1839 d. 1887, since she is in the same burial plot as August and Augusta.

Since Julia was probably born in Princeton, I am hoping someone might have information regarding exactly when and where August and Augusta came from Prussia.
Manthei family in Princeton, WI

Tracy, wondering where in Prussia your Manthey/Mantei family came from. My husband's gr-gr-grandfather came to the Princeton area in 1857 or so. His name was Friedrich Wilhelm Manthei, also spelled Mantei, Manthey, etc. The family lived near Liebenow, Arnswalde, Brandenburg, Prussia. They were also German Lutheran. At this time I know of another brother, August who married Christina Lambrecht and a sister Wilhelmina Friedricka who married Wilhelm Luck/Lueck. We don't know who their parents are other than the father is listed as Johann Mantei on one of their death certificates. Any info you might have would be appreciated!

Donna Manthei

His wife, Sophronia Alvira (HALE) SLAYTON was
born 28 May 1807 in Grand Isle, Vermont and died somewhere
in Wisconsin.

There are Mantheys in Columbia County, WI near Pardeeville.
In the Pardeeville Cemetery there is a gravestone with the spelling Manthei. This has been a great puzzle to me as
I have tried to trace this family's relationship to the Zerbels and Rieck/Rick/Riek lines of Wirsitz County near Bromberg. These Mantheys lived in Aniela near Nakel/Naklo and there were some intermarriages with these
other lines including Manthey pictures among family pictures.
I think they were related in the old country and lived in the
Netze river area. These Mantheys probably considered themselves to be German Lutherans. The Zerbels listed their destination as Princeton on immigration records, so I suspect that there were relatives there probably Mantheys. Any one
who is interested in this information, please contact me.
Eleanor, swober@maqs.net

Daughter of Herman Frederick Kelm 1839 - 1928 and Ottilie Lehmann 1849-1914. Married Paul Friedrich (Frederick) 1897, their son Stewart 1908 - 1963 was my husband's father. Stewart's first wife was Harriet Trosper and they had one son Stewart Franklyn, Jr. b 1930 - 1988 who in turn had a son named Stewart. Stewart Sr. married a second time to Sue Roberta Gates and had three sons, one of whom is my husband. They divorced about 1944. My husband never had an opportunity to connect with any of his father's family and was given very little information other than the family name changed from Friedrich to Frederick. The information we have now we traced beginning with my husband's birth certificate. Stewart Sr. had sisters, Grace, Ruth, and Vivian all born in Idaho. Anyone out there with a connection to this family?

I would like to contact anyone from this family.

The Rudolph's are related to my mom's family and I would like to find out more about them. I know they had a farm in Green Lake that later became a campground and then became Lawsonia Links. There is also a family legend that they donated land for a park in Green Lake.

They previously lived in Chicago and appear on the 1900 Chicago census and then they appear on the 1910 census in Green Lake. I think Herman came from Posen.

Polish in Princeton

I was recently in Princeton looking for the tombstone of a (so far) unrelated Plencner. My search was successful, but my curiosity was struck. I have done research in Southern Wisconsin (mainly Jefferson & Walworth Counties). In these areas there it seems in the late 1800s it was almost 90% German. Some areas to the west of here seem highly Scandinavian, but Princeton's cemetery near St. John the Baptist was packed end to end with Polish names, the subject of my search being one of them.

Does anyone have special knowledge of the Polish in Green Lake County, especially Princeton? It is fascinating to see so many in this time period. During my online research someone mentioned that almost everyone she ran across in princeton was from one area of Posen. I now suspect a colonization effort such as one I uncovered in Hermann, Missouri, where a church in Germany sponsered mass migrations across the world.

Also, if anyone knows more about the Plencner family in this vicinity, I would be pleased for them to share.

Just some questions.... My website is www.splencner.com/family

Interested in hearing from anyone researching the above names. I have each of these surnames in a list of baptismal sponsors for my great-grandmother & siblings between 1866 and 1880 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Princeton. Mother was a SCHULTZ and father a KRUEGER. Specific names (of unknown sponsors) are:

Ferdinand Mantei
Michael Krueger
Martin Krueger
Edward Kant
Louise Fenske
Mrs. Zuelke
Wilhelm Fratzke
Antone Rimpler
Mrs. Manthey

St. John's Church

My grandfather was born in the town of Manchester in 1880 and baptized at St. John's Church shortly thereafter according to his baptismal certificate (one of the printed German baptismal certificates). I'm looking for information on St. John's Church (its location, history, pastors, etc.). It was probably a Lutheran Church with predominantly German immigrant parishoners. Any assistance anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Bertie Kelvie
Boise, Idaho

Krueger/Salzwedel in Princeton

I've discovered a new surname associated with a Krueger I am almost sure links with mine.

Emma Krueger, dau. of Michael Krueger and Rosine (nee) Baumgarten, married a Salzwedel (by 1911). She was likely a member at St. John Lutheran in Princeton, where the burial of her father was held in 1911, because of her mention by name. The couple had five sons and one son died (not sure if that means 6 total or 5 total.)

Any connections?
