I'm looking for information on Dennis Burke (b. 1801, Ireland, d. 1900), and his brother John, who moved into the Marquette/Kingston area prior to 1851 (they first appear on the Wisconsin census of 1855 and his first child was born in WI in abt. 1851). He was married to Johanna Grady (b. 1830, Ireland, d. 1892). These are their children:
John b. abt 1851, WI
Julia b. 1854, WI m. Wm Inglis
Anna b. 1855, WI
Dennis b. 1857, WI
Josephine b. abt 1860, WI
Yulic b. 1862, WI m. Anna Priske
Johanna b. 1862, WI m. Henry Hewitt
Walter b. 1863
Charles b. 1866
I've done extensive research on the Burke, Leahy, Priske, Quillinan families in the Marquette/Kingston area but the Burkes are particularly puzzling because both Dennis and Johanna had passed away before the 1900 census so I don't know when they immigrated, I don't know where they came from in Ireland, and I don't know how they entered the United States. I'm also unsure of which John Burke in the Marquette/Kingston area is Dennis' brother because there are two listed on the census records.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
