I just figured out the connection between J.Scott Blackwell and George C.Flanner-they were cousins. It seems George's mother Sabina Silverthorn and J.Scott's mother Martha Silverthorn were sisters. It pays to do the research here on ancestry. At the time (1904) that Flanner-Steger Land & Lumber Company was created in this unnamed town, there was already a Flanner WI after George, President and a Steger Ill after John V.Steger, V.President (the man who made pianos from the N.WI wood), it makes sense that they named it after Blackwell.

Ha!the things you find late nite web surfing. Hi I am Joe Autowski Bruno and Ann's grandson. as to all the autowski's buried in addition would be my father Raymond in '05 my aunt Cecilia Lisiecki and her husband Robert and his son. Why there buried there? They had a summer home there and then retired from chicago. Ann died there. My mother's family is there. shes the daughter of Joe Bernas(whos buried there) and Rose Bernas(Kowalkowski)who remarried Vital Dziewiontkoski who both are buried there. my mom will be buried there in fact she already has her name there next to my father(kind of creepy)but she is practical. we still have many family plots left there. I guess this proves that old posts never die. Thanks for your info. It is the most probable explanation of how Blackwell and Blackwell Junction, WI got it's name. In 1999 I was actively trying to identify and research as many Blackwell place names as I could find. I'm not so active any more, but will add this info to my data.

Karla ... I've been trying to find a link between John and Conrad for a while now. Conrad was born 23 Jan 1825 in Heedesheim (??) Hesse (sometimes listed as Germany, other times as Prussia.) My John was born 18 Jan 1835 in Wonsheim, Hesse, Germany. John's other siblings were Henry (b. 1837) and Margareth (b. ~1836) -- who came to the USA in 1855 with their mother (Anna Maria) and father Heinrich/Henry. ... I'm not sure when John came -- possibly 1852 -- and if there were other siblings. Does any of this sound promising?

Mrs Angeline Castellion, widow of A Castellion, died at the home of her son, Frank, Sunday morning. She was born in the state of New York Jan 28 1847. years ago. Surviving sons and daughter are Chandler, local mail carrier, Charles of Neweld, Wis; Roy of Eagle River, Mrs. Emma Williams of Chetek. Frank, of Hortonville, ten grand-children and six great grand-children. The funeral will be held at the Baptist church at 2 o clock Wednesday afternoon Rev. Mr. Bell of New London will have charge of the services, and interment will be in Union cemetery.

JOHN CHRISTIAN
John Christian, 91, Hortonville, veteran of the civil war, died at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of John Castellion in the village of Hortonville, after a lingering illness. He was a member of Co. F 21st regiment of Wisconsin infantry. The survivors are two children, John
Christian of New London and Mrs. Gustave Behm of Hortonville, one sister, Mrs. Angeline Castellion of Hortonville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church at Hortonville. The Rev. T. E. Holland will conduct the services. Internment will be in Union cemetery. Members of the American Legion will be bearers.

Hello, I am not related. I don't have access to Ruth's obit, but on a hunch after finding a Ruth Castellion in the 1930 census in the same town as Peter (Ross, Forest County), I did some newspaper checking for the Castellion name, and found Ruth's father's obit, Charles Castellion.

C. H. Castellion, 91, Dies at St. Mary's

Charles H. Castellion of Crandon, a former blacksmith and cabinet maker, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Hospital following an illness of two years. He was 91 years old.
Born at Hortonville, Wis., Feb. 20, 1869, Mr. Castellion moved to Elcho in 1917 and to Newald in 1927. He had been a resident at the Crandon Nursing Home for the past year.
He married Clara Bettac at Hortonville Aug. 17, 1896. She died in 1917. Two sons, five brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nora Radliff, Crandon, and Mrs. Peter (Ruth) Brunette, Newald; six sons, Merton, Elmer, Carl and Herman of Crandon, Gerald of Racine and Russell of Goodman; two brothers, Frank Castellion of Hortonville and Roy Castellion of Eagle River, 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Halverson Funeral Home, Crandon, with the Rev. Jack Cash officiating. The body will then be taken to Hortonville for 2 p.m. graveside services at Union Cemetery, with interment to follow. The body will lie in state in the Halverson Funeral Home this afternoon and evening.

S Army in Jan., 1951, served considerable time in the occupational forces in Germany and received his honorable discharge on July 20, 1952. He had been employed by a construction Company and had worked on the new County Hospital Building most of the time. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Castellion; three brothers, Rodney, Jackie and David: one sister, Ramona, all of Racine; grandfather, Charles Castellion of Newald, Wis. Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p. m., in the Dahl Funeral Home, Rev, Clarence W. Thornton officiating. Interment will be in the World War II Soldier's Plot in Graceland Cemetery. Laura; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney (Evelyn) Castellion, Sturtevant, David and Jack at home; one daughter, Ramona at home; five brothers; two sisters; one granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins. I am looking for a possible updated list of burials in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Armstrong Creek, WI (I have this website, but it hasn't been updated since 2007:http://fvgs.wetpaint.com/page/Forest+County,+Armstrong+Creek... and I also have: http://files.usgwarchives.net/wi/forest/cemetery/photo-index...). It appears that several Autowski family members may be buried there - some under their married name. It's interesting that the bodies of family members who died in other states were returned to be buried in Pine Hill.

Does anyone recognize the Autowski name or is this a common occurrence with family plots? I believe Bruno and Anne Autowski were the head of this family line and I already have their headstone picture.

I am researching the family of my father(step), Felix John Grumann, brother to Louise (Grumann) Gotz. I have some early photos of her and her children that I would be happy to share. I can't remember what Norman looked like and would appreciate help in identifying some of the people in the photos. Also, I would appreciate any stories of Louise's father and family. I often visited Louise's family when I was living in Milwaukee. The kids are vivid images and so is the house and Louise, but for some reason I cannot put a face to Norman.

I may have responded to this elsewhere, but there are about 30 Boehler & Bohler entries in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). These include a Henry Boehler (1916). Other surnames referenced with Boehler include Schweig Guenther and Weyenberg Mueller Wegemann.

My uncles, Carl and Walter KLOK, owned a farm on Stevens Lake from the 1920s until 1961. They and their neighbors on Lilypad Road appeared in the 1930 census (ED 21-1) but are missing from the 1940.
Since they are close to the Florence County line I checked the EDs there, too. No luck.
Has anyone else had problems finding their 1940 people in Forest County?

This may be Cecelia's 2nd husband with a 2nd wife Mary & 2 stepchildren. If this is him, then I would look in Forest County death records for the years 1920 to 1930 for Cecelia Lakomy. I couldn't find her in the Illinois death index. Maybe Andrew gave the Garley children to the grandparents, then went back to Chicago after Cecelia died? Or maybe Cecelia divorced Andrew? So, then she may have died after 1930.

I thought that Cecelia maybe remarried Garley, but it was the other way around. Cecelia remarried Andrew Lakomy/Lakony in Cook County, Illinois January 24, 1920. She used her 1st marriage last name, Garlej/Garley. They must have married there, then came back to Wisconsin to settle in Caswell during the 1920 census.

Hi Tigger, I am not related. I think I found John, Elizabeth, & Raymond "Garley" in the 1920 census with parents Andrew & Cecilia Lakomy. All had the last name of Lakomy. I have a gut feeling this is them. The ages fit for the 3 children. Plus, they were the next family down from the Thomas Slubowski family on the same census page (1920).

Is it possible that Cecilia married a 2nd time to a John Garley, and he gave the children his last name?

We are related to the Kendley's. Palmer Kendley was my husband's great grandfather, his parent's were Edward Kendley and Catharine Sullivan. They lived in the Stephensville area of Wisconsin. From what we know they came New York, possibly Ireland before that. There are also Kendley's (from Edward's third wife) that lived in the Crandon area.

I am also trying to find any connection related to the Masse family. My grandfather was Alfred Masse and was married to Simone Biort in the early 1900's. My father was Michel Masse who had 5 other siblings...Terese, Andre, Philippe, Agnes and Francis. They lived in Lille, France. My father was the only one in his family to immigrate to the US in the 1940's. The rest of the family has already perished or is still living in various locations in France. If anyone has any information on the genealogy, I would definitely be interested!

My Moss, Masse family was Louis Masse(abt :1828)emmigrated to saginaw and bay city michigan, married denise dechamps, The lefebvre connection is my gr gr grandmother mary lefebvre married peter commire(pierre camire) in 1871 in Quebec but I think they came to usa not long after. my gr grandmother mary commire(1872 in canada)is in a 1880census for saginaw mi,then to bay city, mi in the same year. she married joseph moss(1872),joseph's father,Louis(1850)married a second time to georgianna commire,(mary's sister) Anyone know who Louis masse's(1828) parents are??

Augusta M (Rogers) Topping was born Jul 1851 in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, She married Frank Marion Topping 1872 in Waushara County, Wisconsin. She is buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Newald. Per her Find A Grave memorial she died 1932.

Can anyone help me find the specific date of her death along with an obituary? And is her husband Frank buried in Forest Home Cemetery also and if so then a specific date and an obituary would be nice to have for him.

Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated.
