I have an ancestor, Helena Schmidt, who married John Ferdinand Michael Gaertner in Fond du Lac in 1855. I know about their descendants, but nothing of their parents. You can find a short biography of John in a book called the History of Fond du Lac County, published 1880, available as a free download online.
