Hey Jack,
I looked through a few of my photos from Fondy and I couldn't find any matching that background, but I can check some others. But I would agree with your timing because of the ties were more like modern ties and that did not happen till closer to the turn of the century, as well as the fact that the background is painted, something studios generally didn't do until later in the 19th century, so it is definitely after about 1885.
