From the Reform newspaper, Eau Claire, WI, 19 Nov 1895 (trans): Sunday afternoon Gabriel Jensen died in Elk Mound, at 66 years of age. He was the first Norwegian settler in those parts and was wlll known. He took part in the war and was admired because of his diligence and hard work. His wife and seven children, of whom four are at home, survive him. The funeral there, took place at noon on Tuesday and many people gathered to pay the departed the last respects. Pastor Kvaase presided.
