Classification: Query
Surnames: Leland, Hanson, Paulson
The occupants in the Leland Lot # 23, at the North Running Valley Church includes Johanes Leland and many family members; too many #s to put in an e-mail - sending you the hard copy. They made a notation of an unmarked grave being found, when one of the Leland's was burried.
The Sexton also looked for Hans *, and/or * Hanson (sen)s, buried in the early 1900s and found none. Nor did they find Johannes Paulson in their listings.
Johannes was also not at the 'Lower Running Valley' cemetery on highway 40 out of Colfax, unless he rests in one of the unmarked graves. As previously discussed, he can't be buried at Faith, where they did not vote to have an adjacent cemetery until 1879.
I am still waiting to hear from the 'American' cemetery, which was open to the public at your estimated time of his death. It is next to the Popple Creek Church (a German affiliation initially and only members could be buried there - no point in looking at that one). If I am not mistaken, this would have been west of his residence. Two of three of the Sand Creek churches have responded, north of his residence. I am still waiting for the third, which is the 'Zion' Church to get back to me. If he isn't at the 'Zion' Church cemetery or the 'American' cemetery, per the records held by the Sexton, I suggest that you then write to the Zion Church in Sand Creek and ask if they have additional parish records for this family. Anita's information did include that his youngest children were confirmed there.
