I've done some research on this, because my great-grandfather was acting mayor of Superior in 1895-96. He was Albion Howe, president of the Superior City Council at the time Mayor Starkweather was impeached. After 1896 it seems Albion got out of politics altogether.
I called the Mayor's office in Superior, because in the same building there is a "wall of mayors" on the back wall of one of the courtrooms. The helpful woman there said she could not locate a Daniel Long on that wall. My ancestor Albion was one of the very early photos on that wall, but I'm not sure how many years back the office of mayor was established in Superior.
My best advice to you is to call the Area Research Center at the Superior Public Library. 715-394-8860. Good luck!
