I would be interested in information concerning the Spanish Flu epidemic as it hit Superior and surrounding towns in 1918. Does anyone know of books or reports from the Twin Ports area during that period which may shed some light? I know of the devastating world-wide scope of the disease, and I'm puzzled why it didn't get more coverage in my history books, despite the fact that it killed more people than the Black Plague, and did it faster!

I'm interested in any accounts of the disease which are specific to the Duluth-Superior area. My grandmother's twin sister, May (HORNER) WOODWARD, contracted the virus and died in December of that year. She was pregnant at the time, lost her baby, then died the next day. She lived in Duluth, but was buried at Greenwood Cem. in Superior. I am still trying to find out what happened to her husband, James WOODWARD, and another son of his and May's, little James, born around 1915. They lived through the flu, but the family lost touch with them a long time ago. Any information would be appreciated.
