Obit or Newspaper Article - Death of Jane Daniel

There appears to be a lack of volunteer look-ups in the area of Dodge and Columbia Counties. I am desperately attempting to locate the following items regarding my ggg grandmother, Jane Daniel, mother of prominent local Welsh Calvinistic Minister John R. Daniel. Her headstone in the Blaen y Cae Cemtery (Engedi) reveals that she died on 13 October 1872. I have been unable to locate any kind of death certificate through the State of Wisconsin. Since Jane was the mother of a prominent local clergyman, and her husband John also was prominent in the local churches, I was hoping there may be an article noting her passing and/or an obituary that may have appeared in the local papers of the times. If anyone in the area of Dodge County or Columbia County would be willing to check any microfilmed newspapers at any of the local libraries, it would save me a trip of about 100 miles. I wonder too if there is anyone in that area who does regular research at the local Register of Deeds office who may be able to check the death records to ascertain if there is in fact a local death certificate for Jane Daniel. She was living with her son, John Robert Daniel, in Fox Lake Township near the time of her death. For the record, although we go by the surname Daniel, it could also be recorded as Daniels. Please advise.

I found my prisoner relative through the Jefferson County Circuit Court Records online...sorry I don't have more information than that. I had to order the record and it gave me a lot of information as to why he was sentenced. This was in 1929, so yours may be harder to find, depending on where he lived and if the courthouse burned down, never fails. Good luck on your search.

Were you ever able to locate prison information on your relative who was at Waupun? You had inquired on this thread. I am trying to locate a source for prison records on my great uncle, John O'Donnell, who was there in 1899. I found him on the 1900 Census from Waupun. Wouldn't think that the prison would retain records that old on site. Any luck?

My great uncle, John O'Donnell (born 1867 in Mass.) was an inmate there in 1899 and supposedly for 4 years. Found him in the 1900 U.S. Census. Would like to know the particulars.

OBITUARY: Beaver Dam Argus, Friday, February 9, 1912, page 7.
DIED - SCHLAEBITZ - At her home, 205 South Center street, this city, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 1912, Mrs. Henrietta Schlaebitz, aged 72 years, 4 months and 16 days, of kidney and heart trouble.
After a protracted illness, which had extended over a period of ten years or more, the greater part of which she was a confirmed invalid and suffered much, Mrs. C. W. Schlaebitz passed quietly away at her home last Saturday morning. Miss Henrietta Bruett was born at Hademarshen, province of Holstein, Germany, Oct. 4, 1839, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacobin Bruett. Her grandfather was the pastor of the village church and her father the organist and parish teacher. She was brought up in the Lutheran faith and received her education in the parish school taught by her father. When eighteen years of age she came to this country and joined her brother, who had lived at Fond du Lac for several years previous to her arrival. She was united in marriage the following year to William Rueping of Fond du Lac, and they came to Beaver Dam in 1869 [sic], when Mr. Rueping engaged in the tanning business. Mr. Rueping died in 1867 and his widow married Mr. Wm. Gallun of this city in 1869 with whom she lived until his death in 1879. She was united in marriage with Mr. Carl Walter Schlaebitz of this city on Dec. 18th, 1883, who survives to mourn her loss. The surviving children of the deceased are: William Rueping, Fred Rueping and Mrs. Max Lang, Fond du Lac; Robert Rueping, Chicago; Otto Gallun, Milwaukee, Mrs. Wm. Zeimet and Mrs. A. A. Zimmerman of this city. Mrs. Schlaebitz leaves three brothers, Gustave and Rudolph Bruett of Bloomfield, N. J., and Mr. John Bruett of Merrill, Wis. Her only sister, Mrs. Theodore Lattler, died last November. It was the repeated request of the deceased that her sons should be her pall bearers and her request was carried out at the funeral which was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from her late home. Pastor T. S. Johnson spoke words of comfort and the interment was in the family lot at Oakwood cemetery.
Ihr meine lieben, klaget nicht
Beweint nicht meine Tod
Ich bin ja nicht zu fruh gestorben
Bin nur entnommen meiner not
Denn meine schmerzen waren gross
Nun bin ich allen jammer loss
Gott lob es ist vollbracht.

Only problem is, I cannot find a Town of Waushara or if perhaps the borders have changed and Waushara is now located in a different county. Can anyone please clear this up for me?

I show that there was a Carl Fredrich Wilke that married a Carolina Pautzke and had 14 children in Germany, his twin sons Emil and Otto, and Carl came over in 1891.

I also show a Johann Karl William Wilke that married a Fredericke Barz in Germany came over in 1893. He went by John Wilke. He and his wife had a total of 9 children with all having been born in Germany. John Wilke was born 5/19/1839 and died in Dodge County, MN on 1/5/1911.

What I am wondering since both of thes men ended up in Dodge County, perhaps they wer brothers, or cousins? Does anybody in the Wilke families have any idea? Thanking you in advance, Sandy

I have a lot of info on the second family, including obits and some photos if anyone is interested...sanjos333@gmail.com

I realize this is long time since post. CORRECT location is NORTH of HWY. 26 & 33, on Hwy 26 approx. 1 mile. Minnesota Junction received it's name because of a railroad junction of old Minnesota/St. Paul railroad. Approx. 1 mile north of 26/33 intersection you will cross old rail tracks, if you would look to right there is remnant of other tracks now a bike trail. There used to be a small "spur or horseshoe" that would allow engineers to drop and change direction of certain rail cars. The town was built around the junction of railroad tracks. There used to be a rail station, etc. there Minnesota junction started out to really grow, but didn't for various reasons. There was no factory there, nor is that the reason it grew. It was because of the railroad.

Thank you for sharing this with me. I see that the family lived in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1900, but my grandmother Mary Falk was left behind in Clyman as housekeeper for her grandfather William Waterhouse and uncles.

So, it looks like my g-aunt Louise married John and lived in LaCrosse with her parents. Does that sound about right from the information? Or maybe the census was taken before they got married in Clyman.

How did you locate the marriage record? I'd like to know how to do that. Thanks again, MJ

Thanks for the reply!

I actually found Philip in the Worth County, Iowa death index. I still haven't found an obituary, but it looks like he must have been back in Iowa when he did die.

Anyway, his death index record had his mother's maiden name (Hager) so I was able to finally track down the rest of his line.

Thanks for your response.

I am looking for help in locating family and information about my great grandfather Robert (C A- possible middle initials) Falk. He was b. October 1850 and from Prussia and married Harriet Exley in 1882 in Dodge County Wisconsin. They had two daughters, Louise and Mary. I don't know when or where he died or any other family information. Don't know parents names or siblings, if there are any. Does anyone recognize these names? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, MJ
Parents of Philip Seuser (b. 1855, Lowell, Dodge Co., WI)

I am trying to locate information on the parents of Philip Jules Seuser (aka Philip Seuser, Phillip Seuser, Philip J. Seuser, Phillip J. Seuser).

Philip was born in Lowell, Dodge County, Wisconsin, in 1855 (perhaps October of that year). He grew up in Wisconsin. Married Mary Elizabeth Hunter (1859-1948) on February 16, 1880, in Rochester, Minnesota. After which they moved to Grove Township, Worth County, Iowa. They later moved to Freeborn County, Minnesota for only 3 years and then moved back to Worth County, Iowa and lived there for 20+ years.

Supposedly he later moved to Hill County, Montana (he and Mary did have a son, Victor, who moved there) where he eventually died. However, Mary died (and is buried) in Worth County (in the town of Northwood), Iowa and I have found no evidence of a divorce so I'm not sure if the Montana information is accurate. On every census Philip listed that both his parents were born in Germany. Family oral tradition also is that his parents came here from Germany.

I have found lots of records of Seuser's in Dodge County, WI but have never been able to connect Philip to any of them.

Any hints or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
