7/25/99 Am looking for information on the family of my greatgrandmother Catherine Miller (??Mueller). She was born 5 March 1850 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Her parents are said to be John George Miller and Susanna Sherrill (??Rosin).She married on 26 November 1866 at Clyman, Wisconsin, Nicholas Mutziger, who emigrated from Alsace Lorraine in 1856. He shipped out from Havre, France, on the John G. Coster, arriving at New Orleans, Louisiana, on 26 December 1856. According to family lore, he went first to the D'Hanis, Texas, area, where already emigrated sisters lived and ran cotton across the Mexican border during the War Between the States. Later he went to Wisconsin (??more relatives), married Catherine Miller. My grandfather George John Mutziger was born 22 or 26 March 1873 at Lowell, Wisconsin. Nicholas and Catherine Miller Mutziger and their children moved to South Dakota in the 1880s and homesteaded out from Ethan, S.D. He died there 8 July 1905; she on 1 February 1928.
