No,not so far at least ....! :) Joel Dudley is as far back so far that I have gotten and he was born about 1803/1804 in Connecticut. He married in Vermont in 1828, and had two sons in Vermont. In 1838 Joel and Nancy had a daughter in New York (my great great grandmother). By 1844 they had moved to Wisconsin where their other daughter was born. They lived in Milwaukee, Portage area of Columbia county, and Crawford county of Wisconsin.

Looking for any baptismal, deaths records of St. James Church on the James (1815-1875) and Maria Osborn (b. Ky ca. 1811-d. 15 Mar. 1884) Clancy family. They are supposed to be buried in Rising Sun but don't seem to have headstones. James born County Cork, Ireland. Children: James (Hannah O'Leary); William (Sarah Jennings); John Clancy (Catharine Joyce) [my line]; and Mary Anna who married William O'Leary. Is there anyway to access these church records? Hoping to find James' birth date, Maria's parents names, parents of Catharine Joyce perhaps contained in death records.

In roughly 1842, give or take--can't trust my memory, there was a cohort of Mormons that located themselves northwest of Prairie du Chien on the Black River in Wisc Terr. You can find out a little about this from a book that can be read online by Bunnell of Winona Co. Minn. He describes Indian traders on the Mississippi at La Crosse who also sold items to these Mormons. Nauvoo was downriver in Illinois. There was a certain amount of interdependence between the frontier towns on the Mississippi, no matter what state or territory they officially lay in. The biggest towns were Prairie du Chien and St. Louis in 1830s.

I am very interested in the topic of Rev. Alfred Brunson, formerly of Meadville PA and a number of places in Ohio and the southern portion of Michigan. There are at least four certificates in his papers at Wisc Hist. Soc. authorizing him to perform marriages in Mich Terr, Ohio--a number of counties, Wisc. Terr., and Iowa Terr. He was a Methodist and a presiding elder who attended annual conferences. He went west from Penna in 1835 because he felt called to work with Indians. His wife was willing and his kids were mostly grown. He chose Prairie du Chien as a central location. He founded churches in white communities and also started up missions to the Dakota in the future vicinity of St. Paul and to Ojibwe at Sandy Lake and Fond du Lac and Upper Peninsula of Mich. He served as Ojibwe sub-agent in Indian Agency at LaPointe in 1842-43 but got canned for not being willing to screw the Indians. He was a member of the Wisc. Terr. legislature and had a law practice. He loved to write and his papers are voluminous. Some of his stuff got published in Wisc. Hist. Collections.

If anyone is able to help me uncover additional unpublished material that gives insight into 1835-1845 period, I'd appreciate it, especially if it deals with Indians or Minnesota.

The Hist Soc of Wisconsin has two boxes of his stuff in its archives. I've transcribed the Indian Agency notebook from Box 2.

His sons Benjamin and Ira were surveyors in Minn. and early citizens of Minn and/or Wisc.

Linda Bryan, St. Paul

Can anyone remember what street the Zephyr club in Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin used to be on. It has been torn down and became a parking lot for the car dealer ship that was next to it. It was directly across from some railroad tracks. My great aunt used to own it and I cannot remember the street name anymore. Thanks

It was so fun to read your post. I believe I corresponded with you years ago. I've been quite ill the last several years and haven't been able to pursue our ancestry interests. I'm happy to be doing better and enjoying the research again!

Samuel and Isabella Atchison are my 2nd great grandparents. My maternal grandfather, Clarence Walker, was the only child of William Henry and Elizabeth (Hunter) Atchison,my 1st great grandparents. Apparantly Clarence and "Lizzie" left North Dakota with William Henry to Canada shortly after his birth in December of 1899. They're found in the 1900 census residing in Foster County. In 1902 Clarence and Elizabeth left Canada (sometime in 1901) when Grandpa was a year old. The story that's been passed down was that they walked back to Stutsman County to be near her family. She married Frank Walker in 1902 and gave birth to their first child that same year. Grandpa ended up taking the name Walker, although it's doubtful that he was formally adopted. The story goes that he left home at 13 years old to work and live on the Abledinger Farm. I'm not sure if he graduated from high school or if his education ended at that time. He's found in the household of the Abledingers in the 1920 census.

Grandpa Walker was notified of Henry's death in 1950 and an inheritance. He either didn't want, or didn't have the means, to travel to Canada to claim his inheritance.

I'd love to learn more about the Atchison-Armstrong connection. My husband and I could be distant cousins!

Sincerely,

Leslie Armstrong
lja57@msn.com
727-784-0031
A while back I compared notes with one of her daughters and could ask about the teaching. I've seen two other photos with Bessie Champion. I'm sure her kids would love to see your photo.

Chuck T

According to "The History of the town of Mason, NH" (pub. 1858) January 1816: "Small Pox apppeared in the family of SILAS LAWRENCE..." "selectmen give leave that two or more persons, not exceeding five, who have had the kine pox and have been exposed to taking the small pox, may be enoculated with the small pox, provided the Mr. WILLARD LAWRENCE is willing to have the enoculated persons go and remain in his new house..." "February 5...voted to send for Dr Spaulding, of Amherest, forthwith, to examine IRA LAWRENCE and give his opinion whether he had the kine pox or small pox." "SILAS LAWRENCE died of the desease; and also his mother, an aged lady. His son, in whom the disease first appeared, recovered. The deceased were buried upon Mr. LAWRENCE'S farm...persons who died of contagious diseases were not then permitted in the public burying grounds." Is it possible that SILAS and WILLARD are brothers? And which one is Ira's father?
Jo Lawrence jal140@aol.com

I have that George Henry married Lucia A. Simpson October 5, 1874 in Eau Claire, WI and then married Sarah White December 28, 1868 in Clayton, Crawford County, WI.
George W. came to Crawford County in 1856 from Prairie du Chien Union (newspaper) obituary he died in 1888 in Yankeetown.
I have basically nothing on Andrew J. except born 7 Oct. 1871 or 1875 in Clayton, WI and died 26 Jan. 1926. I’d be interested in having the info on them that you have. I have information on a Mable but she was Married to William Henry.
If you have any info on Norman more than birth, death, and marriage dates and children’s names I’d be interested in that. Also, anything on Cora and Eleanora more than birth and death dates.
Henry, b. 1849, d. ? & his wife, Sarah White, b. 1856, d. ? or their offspring, in any. Also. I don't have much on the 3 daughters of Andrew J. Barlow and his wife Mabel Eggen, except their approximate birth years. These are a few of the things I do not have. Louisa Lonica Rice was a sister to my great grandfather Rice. I will be interested in what info you have and will share anything I have. Dick Rice

Michael GERAGHTY/GARRITY was one of two witnesses at the marriage of my g'g'grandparents, Bartholomew FORD (1811-1880) + Brigget MEER, St. Muredach's in Ballina, Co Mayo. (Fanny EDWARDS was the other witness).
Do you have a Michael?

My Boucher Family
Here's a copy of my Boucher family line. Start from the bottom up. I made a mistake on Rene Boucher, as you will see, so I still have to find the father of John. However, some of this info may help you.

Jean Boucher (1522 - 1611)
is your 14th great grandfather

Jacques Boucher (1547 - 1611)
Son of Jean

Gaspard Boucher (1599 - 1662)
Son of Jacques

Pierre BOUCHER (1622 - 1717)<--founder of Boucherville near Montreal, Canada. google the town for more history.
Son of Gaspard

Rene BOUCHER (1595 - 1665) <-------error from here on up. They are related, I believe, but I think they are brothers, not father and sons.
Son of Pierre

John BOUTCHER (1624 - 1679)
Son of Rene

Ann Martha BOUTCHER (1650 - 1737)
Daughter of John

Thomas RUNYON (1675 - 1753)
Son of Ann Martha

Joseph RUNYON (1704 - 1780)
Son of Thomas
