Hello,
I am researching the REEDER/READER family of Harrison Township and was wondering if someone could do a cemetery lookup for me. I am searching for the gravestones of Hannah REEDER or READER who died sometime between 1870 and 1875 and her husband James REEDER/READER who died after 1880. James remarried and his second wife was named Anne or Anna. We found other family members in the Woodville cemetery but did not look for Hannah at the time because we did not know her last name. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Krista

Hello all -- I am researching the Kampfers, Satzers and Weningers. It turns out that some of the farm land owned by these families (outside of Chilton) was previously owned in the 1800s by John Ryan, A. O'Donnell and someone named Kaul. I haven't found any reference to them in ancestry or this database. Does anyone know of these families? I'm suspecting they may have been early settlers who may have moved west after the wheat market crashed. Or something like that. We do have some old tools from one of the farms that may have been used by these early folks. So I'm curious about them. Anyone know anything?

Here is what I know:

"This Cemetery is Northeast of Harrison on Highway 55, located on a farm in the back of a barn, a few miles south of Sherwood. In October of 1975, the farm was owned by George Holzschuh, unknown who owns it today."

If someone who lives nearby is willing to take pictures of Mansfield and Bishop tombstones I would be very grateful.
This is a long shot request. I am trying to find the death place and record of Margaretha Mausert who is listed in the 1860 Census as a domestic for the Wolfgang Dorn family. I believe she is the "lost sister" of William Mausert who resided in NY. Anyone have a clue how to find a record this old in Calumet. She was 65 in 1860. Looking for record in hopes of discovery her parents names. Never found a Mausert that wasn't related but never found a Mausert in Wisconsin until now.

Thanks.

Peter BRUHNHOLTZ/BRUNHOLS was in New Holstein, Calumet County in 1855, 1860 & 1870 with his wife Anna Margaretha and son Hartwig. Declaration of Intent filed in 1872. A Chilton history mentions Miss Brunhols/now Mrs ARPS in the drama group. His son married Johanna MEINERT at New Holstein in 1873. The census of 1880 shows Catherine Bruhnholtz, as mother, in the house of Claus THEISSEN, a butcher. Grandma born in 1894 said she had no grandparents, but they were related to the SCHRADERS, as she pronounced it. Could use any help with Peter & family, have family of Hartwig to share.
Does anyone know anything about the old Freewill Baptist Church in Brothertown? It apparently was incorporated in 1867, but I've seen references of a Rev. George Town going there from Oakfield in 1847.

I am guessing that there was no permanent structure, but rather that the group shared the Brothertown Methodist Episcopal Church that was on Hwy 151 and County Trunk H, and demolished in 1966.

Is anyone familiar with this? Thanks!!
Hello,

my great-grandfather, James Hoskins Kendall moved from Dodgeville, WI to Chilton WI approximately the end of 1936 or beginning of 1937 (info located through Dodgeville Chronicle, March 4, 1937. This is a family branch torn apart by divorce, etc, and no one ever heard of him again. There was no mention of him in any of his family\'s obits through the mid 1950\'s.

i am trying to determine when and where he died if possible...or any trace of him after 1937.... did he stay in Chilton, and die there? Would there be any particular database to check locally? He was Iowa county (WI) treasurer from 1915-1920.

Iany hints or help would be appreciated.....

Rae Leigh

I found this old photo postcard in an antique store and am looking for family who may want it. The photo is of a group of young adults in front of a house or school house. The writing on the back says " Taken at High Cliff, Wis.(Calumet county) Sept. 1st, 1912. From left to right Hattie Sternhagen, Viola Bock, Billy, Elsie Sternhagen, George, Eva Dix, and Lora Bock". This photo may already have a new home but I can send downloads of it for anyone interested. Thank you.

[MICHAEL FRIEDEL left JERICHO in 1898 and settled in RACINE WI.]
From Friedel Family History..."Our Friedel Grandparents lived [in the village] around the corner from the community center [which consisted of the proverbial tavern, pool room, lunch counter, and a big dance hall] on the other side of the village church and school. On the opposite side of the house, a short walk led to the village cemetery."
Sometime in 1923-24..."there was an awful Jericho village fire during the cold winter months and our Grandparents Friedel lost their home [it burned to the ground], Uncle Joe lost his barn and the village church was destroyed."
I am searching for any information concerning my ancestors and about JERICHO around this time period. Thanks.
I am searching for infomation about the death of Augusta T. ECK LOOSE. She supposedly died of "black diptheria." I believe she died sometime between 1895 and 1900 while the family was still in Calumet County, although this may have occured after the family moved to Marinette.

Augusta was married to Fred Loose/Lohse in 1887 and they had three children (1890 - 1894). By the time of the 1900 census in Marinette, Fred is listed as a widower.

Any info about when she died and where she is buried would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
George

The 1910 census say they were married 30 years at that time so that would make the year somewhere around 1880.

Any information that you have that might help is appreciated.

Any information that you have that might help is appriciated.

DeWanna

I am searching for any information on the Joseph STARR Family. I know they lived in Chilton {Calumet County}long enough to have a daughter there but I was wondering if anyone knew anymore about the parents. Here is what I know
Joseph Starr b: May 4, 1844 in Germany, M: Anna Schilling (B: August 28, 1845 in Germany d: Dec 17, 1918 in Milwaukee, WI Buried at Calvary Cemetery along with Joseph and son Frank) Joseph died July 5, 1915 in Milwaukee, WI.
They had a son Frank J. Starr b:Sept 2, 1873 d:March 19, 1905. They also had a daughter Mary Elizabeth Starr who was born in Chilton, WI on Dec 12, 1881. She married Alyouisius John Bernard OFFENBACHER in Milwaukee, WI June 29, 1904. She died May 29, 1952 in Milwaukee and is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. They had 2 daughters Veronica and Helen Offenbacher. If anyone recognizes this family I would greatly appreciate hearing from you as we seem to be hitting a brick wall here.
Thanks,
Renee
thanig@win.bright.net
I am reaching out to fellow family genealogy hunters in the hopes someone may recall seeing a gravestone or funeral home listing for Herman Bock b. ^ December 1874 and, based on his mother's census reports of living children, d. 1900 - 1910. The only times I have been able to find him are in the 1880 census, residence New Holstein and on a steamship with his parents in November 1875 (11 months of age). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

My Grandmother Theresa Moser Puser died in 1907 in Brillion, Calumet County, Wisconsin of pneumonia, what's the chance of getting a death certificate or an obit. She married John Puser spelled Buser in the Manitowoc County Marriage index. Her children were John M.,Lena, Michael, Theresa, Joseph, Frank, and Wilhelm. There is a listing in the birth records for Franz Puser b. 12 Apr. 1896 reel # 0026 000920 and Magdalen Puser b.April 13, 1896 reel 0026 000921. Could these have been twins that were born to Theresa that may have been still born. We have never heard of her having twins. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, JoAnn (Puser) Greenwade

I am searching for information on Carl Bock b. ^1848, Germany, and his sons, Herman b. 1874, Arthur b. 1876, and Carl b. 1878.
They are in the 1880s New Holstein census with Doris, wife, and two nephews, Oskar and Johan.
Carl's wife Doris(Pieper/Piper) married Fredrick Prueter in 1887; so, there was an apparent divorce and she appears with Fred and two children, Louis Otto and Ella in the 1900 New Holstein census.

Looking for information on Balthasar and Mary Elias. I see that she and the children lived in Charlestown for the 1880 census and in 1870 lived in Manitowac county and are ennumerated there. I am -guessing- that Balthasar died sometime between 1870 and 1880 as he is not listed on the 1880 census. Trying to make a connection between Balthasar and Nicklaus Elias who lived in Manitowac county at the same time. Any help is appreciated.

In a letter to my Aunt from my Great Grandfather Joseph Holdenried, he writes that Bertha committed suicide by drowning in the lake. I would like verification. Thanks, Hal Wisdom.
