The Fochs family (Fuchs/Fox are some variations)came to Calumet County in the mid 1800s. All families settled about seven miles north of Chilton WI. Most are buried in St. Mary Cemetery in Chilton WI. Some family members moved to Marathon Co. and settled there about 1900.

Have good history and would like to talk with other family members doing research.

I am looking for a Susanna, Christina, and Mathias Britten from the Black Creek area of Outagamie Co. Since this is next to Calumet Co., I thought maybe there could be a connection. Thank you.

I read the message from Patricia Fochs from Calumet Co, WI, who was trying to find information about the surname, Rollinger. My maternal grandfather was named Nicholas Rollinger. His father, Matthias Rollinger or Matthew Rollinger, emigrated as a young child with his mother, Mary, from Luxembourg. The family settled in Jones County, IA. I am particularly interested in information about Matthew. I believe he was blinded in one eye in a blacksmith shop accident before he left Luxembourg and I believe he was an only child.

My great-grandparents moved to Chilton (CALUMET COUNTY) in 1881. They were Peter LEIPZIG of Trier, Prussia, and Anna Maria SCHUMACHER of Alsace-Lorraine. Their children were Margaret, Anna, Mary, Peter, Nick, Frank, John(Jack). The family moved to Milwaukee after GG died in 1910. I am absolutely stuck at this point. Cannot find records of the LEIPZIG family. I live in Washington state on a limited budget, so the Internet is now my only source. Hope we can help each other. Thanks very much!

Matthew Britten (1853-1907), was my grandfather. His father was Matthias Brittens (1823-1888).To my knowledge, neither was married to Elizabeth Poppe. My grandfather was married to Wilhelmina Brunner until her death in 1901 in Black Creek, Wisc.

Hi Jean...

Are you also related to Matt Britten Sr, who lived in Marshfield? I've been in contact with his son Matt Britten Jr, who owns the greenhouse just outside of Marshfield. Matt Sr. married my gggreat aunt, Elizabeth Poppe.

Hi Sacha,

We "met" since you made this posting, but I want to let others that might find your message know about the Leipzig forum on GenForum. I've posted info there about the five immigrant Leipzig brothers (Peter, Philip, Theodore, Matthias, and Frank), plus their spouses and first generation of descendants. Thanks to your help, I now have a fairly large database of Leipzigs and am willing to share with others. --Lou

I have been working with Terri Lee with my family Genealogy in Calumet County. She is the best for getting information both in and out of that county.
She has done extensive work in the Calumet County area and has filled in many missing gaps in my research.
She does not charge for the information and is one of the best researchers you can get hands down. I am just so excited with her work, I had to share her.
E-mail her directly jtlee@excel.net

My g.grandmother, Teresa Gruber Uebelacher married ?? Fuchs. I don't know much about them but I do know they lived in Marathon County at some point and Theresa lived in Marathon City just before she died. I do believe we share these relatives. Can you tell me more about the Uebelachers?
