We are looking for information on the descendants of William and Lucretia Bristol who lived on State Stret in Green Bay in the early 1900s. They had a large family (at least 9 children that lived to adulthood). One of the daughter (Emma) married into the Finnigan family and had several children. Another daughter, Beulah, married into the Vincent family. Several sons also had children. We are looking for anyone who might have pictures or stories of the family. My great-grandfather was Chester Bristol, who was born in 1896 to William and Lucretia in Green Bay.

Samuel A. HARRISON--does anyone know his family?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone please help with a family for my gr. gr. grandfather. A brick wall for 25 or so years.

Samuel A. HARRISON was born 10 March, 1821 according to his age and date of death on his tombstone. He was born in England. His wife, Susan BRIGHTON, was born in England also in 1823 to John and Sophia EDWARDS BRIGHTON.

The BRIGHTONS came to Ontario, Canada in 1835. Susan and Samuel HARRISON met and married in the Waterloo/Berlin area of Ontario, Canada in 1842. I checked the early assessment lists and found no HARRISON families. He may have been from Hamilton or Buffalo, New York. Samuel and Susan went to Buffalo, New York later in 1842 and Samuel joined the US Army for 5 years. He was discharged in 1847 in Mexico during the Mexican American War.

Samuel HARRISON received a land grant due to his army service and used it to settle in the DePere/Glenmore area in Brown Co., Wisconsin. The NW 1/4 of Sec. 5, T 22N, R 21E.

Samuel enlisted again for the Civil War in Co.F of the 14th Reg. He was wounded at the Battle of Corinth, MS, his leg was amputated and he died in Oct., 1863 of gangrene. Susan and 7 children continued to live in the DePere area. She died 8 July, 1899. They are both buried in the Greenwood Cem.

Their children may have been named after relatives so I will list their names:

Mary Elizabeth bn. Buffalo, NY, marr. John LONGDIN,
James HARBRIDGE
Henry Albert bn. Buffalo, NY, marr. Harriet WILLAMSON
John James bn. Mackinac, MI, marr. Lovisa MUNGER
Richard Edward bn. Glenmore, marr. Ellen FULTON, Mary GARVEY
Harriet Sophia bn. DePere, marr. Cyrus CORNING
Annetta Maria bn. DePere, marr. George BURROWS
Sarah Louette bn. DePere, marr. Theodore DELANEY

I will greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can provide. My hope is someone can fit Samuel into their Harrison family as I know none of his family members. Thank you very much.

Carol Harrison
California

She cut herself off from her family and we have no information on brothers and sisters or parents.

She was born in 1910 in the US - I would think in Wisconsin. She was married to Lawrence Phillips in Brown County. I don't know the date of marriage. Lawrence was born 29 Jan 1910, Bellevue, Brown, WI. He died 21 Jun 1963. His parents were Edward Phillips (b. 5 Dec 1860-Preble, Brown, WI d.11 Jun 1944-Green Bay, Brown, WI) and Patronella (Nellie) Dennisen (b. 4 Oct 1871-WI d.3 Nov 1934)

Ella and Lawrence Phillips had 9 children - Betty, Donna, Larry, Gerald, Carol, Celia, Leon, Leona, and Darlene. All of their children were born in Green Bay.

I do know that Lawrence was a farmer in the Bellevue area.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you.

Janine
We are researching the Bristol family in Green Bay and trying to find some family pictures. The oldest daughter of this family, Emily/Emma, married Alexander Finnigan and had three children, Henry, Edith, and Ethel. Ethel married Clarence Toonen. Ethel Finnigan Toonen was born in 1910 and died in July 1989 (both events occurred in Green Bay), while Clarence Toonen (born 1902) passed away in August 1984 in Green Bay. We are trying to find out if Clarence and Ethel had any children. If anyone has information on this or can locate an obituary for these individuals it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Bart Williams

Hi

I am looking for someone to lookup the marriage in Brown County between William (Wilhelm) Rolf and Anna Remmers (Remers, Reimers). The date would be May 18, 1868 or there abouts. Looking for birthdate of William (I have 1848) and Anna (1852) and the parents of both. What I am really hoping to find is maybe where they originated from...Looks the parents of William were born in Prussia...hoping to narrow it down a bit.

Also looking for the church they were married at....

Thank you for considering a RAOGK!!!

Can anyone suggest how you might prove that one of your ancestors was 1/2 Native American? It has been suggested that my GGGrandmother, Ursula (nee Laroque/LaRock) Douville was 1/2 Chippewa or Menominee Indian. I believe she lived at or around the Bay Settlement area of Green Bay, WI when her daughter, Odilia Douville married my Great Grandfather, Robert Landry, in 1881.

Would any Federal, State or Church records show a person as being 1/2 Native American? The family, I am assuming, was Roman Catholic as most French Canadian-American families were at that time.

Any help appreciated. Thanks. Jeanne

I am searching for information about the parents of Eliza VICTOR LEROY, born about 1852 in Wisconsin.
On her civil marriage record to John LEROY, 18 Jan. 1869, Wrightstown, Brown Co., WI., Eliza named her parents as John and Josephine VICTOR. In the census they are consistantly listed as both being born in Wisconsin.
Affidavits from John LEROY's Civil War pension file show that Eliza probably spent most, of not all, of her childhood in the Wrightstown area. However, I am not able to locate her in the census prior to her marriage.
I will give names of others listed in the records I have for her with the hope that perhaps someone can shed more light on the VICTOR family:
Witness to Eliza's marriage were Elizabeth PILAGORE (probably the daughter of Charles and Josephine Rosella PILAGORE of Brown Co., WI) and Louis BREYAED.
Also married on the same day and providing affidavit information about the marriage and naming her as Eliza VICTOR were Louis VIEAU and Lydia WALKER VIEAU. Lydia said her friendship with Eliza began when Eliza was about 8 years old making that about 1860.
Mary BURNS and Josephine TIERNEY also stated they knew Eliza from about 1880 on.
I believe these last two would be sisters to the Elizabeth PILAGORE who witnessed the marriage because in the 1880 census the next household to Eliza and John was that of Josephine Josette (I believe her to be Josephine AKA Rosella PILAGORE and mis-named in the 1880 census, as she had daughters Elizabeth, Josephine and Mary).
John LEROY, buried at St. Paul's Cemetery, Wrightstown, is the son of John LEROY and Ursula LESSARD, LEROY, LAVIGNE. grandson of Francis and Theresa L'ECUYER and great-grandson of Joseph LEROY/ROY and Margerite AKA Osk-in-ano-ta-we-me of Green Bay. He had Winnebago, Menominee, and Fox/Sac bloodlines, but tended to identify himself as white.
Any help or discussion would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Gladys Josephine Biemeret who married Feliz Szalkowski. Gladys was born 27 Oct 1907. I'm not sure when they married or even if they had any children, but I'm seeking descendants, or anybody researching this family. I have done extensive research on the Biemeret / Biemert families of the Green Bay area and I would like to share my information with other descendants.

Who knows about "the De Pere Wreck" circa 1865-1870?

Henry Shirey, one of my great-grandfathers, supposedly was involved in something called "the De Pere wreck", which I assume was a railroad accident. This might have occurred between 1865 and 1870, around which time I believe he lived in De Pere. His daughter Hattie was said to have been born in De Pere on 12 Dec 1865, but I do not have any contemporary evidence for that.

In doing my family history research I came to find that a relative in 1920 & 1930 was at the Our Lady of Charity of Refuge 'institution'. The archdiocese has provided me with a bit of information, however it wasn't very helpful.

The home was for 'troubled' girls. However, when my relative, Adele (Delia/Della) Kroening was there in 1920 & 1930 she was in her 20s & 30s (she was born 1893). So why was a grown woman at this home for troubled girls?

Also, I have NOT been able to find a death record for her. She died after 1952, so you'd assume she had a SS card ... but NO. I'm wondering if she became a sister and joined this order of sisters, but how do I find out for sure?

Any info you have on the home or Adele would be appreciated - please post or e-mail (carlapbf@gmail.com).

Thanks!

Children: Elvira, Sarah, Mary, Benjamin Willard (my line), Martha, Emeline, James, Ellen, and Maria.

Robert died July 23, 1903 and Sarah died December 16, 1912. Would love to have their obituaries if they exist. Does anyone have access to look up Brown County obits? Most census records list them in the Pittsfield area.
