Mr. Ezekiel PIERCE died Thursday, September 22nd in his 84th year. Although rather feeble physically, he retained his mental faculties perfectly, being remarkably well informed on all the leading topics of the day. He was born in Penfield, Monroe County, New York, June 19th, 1809, emigrated to Yorkshire, Catt. Co. in 1825, and has resided here since. He was the last of all who were residents of the township at that early time to pass over to the other shore, the last survivor of his father's family. He was married to Phoebe THORNTON Feb. 5th, 1832. To this happy marriage there were born nine children, three of whom survive him: Mrs. J. S. MURPHY and George E. PIERCE of this place, and Rollin E. PIERCE of Sioux City, Iowa. The interment took place Sunday. He was an affectionate husband and a kind and indulgent father, also a highly esteemed citizen. By the desire of the deceased the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. I. K. Richardson of Corfu, New York.

The subject of the above notice was the last surviving uncle of the editor of this newspaper. He will be remembered by mnay people in Friendship, as the uncle who spent a week with us twelve years ago last June, arriving here as he then told us, on his birthday anniversary. Hale, hearty, genial, with something in the makeup of the man that suggested intellectual as well as physical robustness, there will always remain with us a kindly and affectionate remembrance of the old uncle who, after a separation of more than thirty-seven years, came west and hunted up the nephew whom he had last met as a little twelve years old boy.
