This message is for the people of the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society. I have photocopies of a book (my grandmother has an original copy) with references to the Wheeling area around the WWII era. The book is titled "From Wood to Steel: The Story of Ernest W. Krause", as told at a meeting of his associates of Wheeling Machine Products Company, Wheeling Plumbing and Industrial Supply, Trimble and Lutz Supply Company, and Krause Stamping and Manufacturing Company. Edited and prepared for publication by Andrew R. McClure. Copyright 1951, Ernest W. Krause. Published by Wheeling News Lithograph Company. This book covers the life of Ernest W. Krause, beginning in Germany, childhood in Michigan, and later years in Wheeling. He talks about the Wheeling Stove and Range Company, the Wheeling Steel and Iron Company, the Wheeling Stamping Company around the years 1913. He talks about starting the business of Wheeling Machine Products Company and the fire that destroyed his business on June 8, 1941. I've skimmed over the Wheeling stuff pretty fast while typing and there is more that I've missed. Ernest W. Krause was my g.g.uncle. I've always been more interested in his recollections of his early days and childhood because that dealed directly with my great grandfather. But, I thought that the Wheeling Geneological Society might be interested in a copy of this book. I made a copy for my local library because of Ernest Krause's recollections of his early childhood in our local town. If the geneological society would like a copy of this book for their records, please email me and let me know. I will make you a copy for your records and mail them to your society.
