Trying to find great grandparents....

Hello,

I am trying to find any information on my Grandfather's parents. Their names were William Riley Marshall and Sarah Elizabeth Anderson Marshall. I think they were born around 1860. They had three children. Their names were Archie, Arlie and Raymond. My grandfather was the youngest.I believe they owned the bank in Littleton? I couldn't say for sure. Grandpa left home at an early age and I don't think he had much contact with his West Virginia family. I have a very vivid memory of a picture of Grandpa's childhood home. It was a lovely two storied white house with two porches. Ivy was growing on the top porch. It may have been near a railroad.

Grandpa was born on sept. the 9th 1899. His full name was Raymond Howard Marshall.

Anyway, any information would be appreciated. Maybe someone might remember my ancestors and can tell me some of my history.

KENDALL, Mary J., 84, of Pine Grove, W.Va., died Monday, September 1, 2008, at her home.

She was born on July 2, 1924 in Pine Grove, the daughter of the late Earl and Josephine Ledgett Kiggans.

She was a member of the Pine Grove Christian Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Kendall on July 3, 1991; four brothers, Emery, Ralph, Floyd "Dutch" and Ed Kiggans; and a sister, Mildred Allen.

Surviving are a son, Johnny (Lynn) Kendall of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Marsha (Sean) McKewen of Frostburg, Md. and Joyce (Jerry) Martin of Reader, W.Va.; a sister, Betty Johnston of West Milford, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove.

Funeral services will be held at the Pine Grove Christian Church on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Dale Dudgeon officiating.

Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.

BOOHER, James Ray, 32, of Perryopolis, Pa., passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008.

He was born November 3, 1975, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, he was the son of Richard D. and Debra Smith Booher.

James was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Ted Smith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Richard D. Booher II and wife, Jackie, of Fayette City, Pa.; and three nephews, Trey, Logan and Isaac.

Friends will be received at the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, Inc., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa. on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church, New Martinsville, West Virginia from Noon until 2 p.m. the hour of service. Pastor Bryan Cinelli officiating.

KING, Charles "Bud" William, 79, of Paden City, W.Va., died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va.

Bud was born November 16, 1928, in Jacksonburg, W.Va., the son of the late Daniel W. and Blanche Myers King.

He was a retired employee of PPG; a graduate of Potomac State College; and attended WVU; was a charter member of the Paden City Fun Run; loved his dogs; his many hobbies were running, weight lifting, bicycling, bird watching, collecting elephants, reading, writing poetry and politics; was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran; and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Paden City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma J. Fullington; nephew, Ricky Malcolm; great-granddaughter, Carrie Ann Anderson; and stepmother, Nettie Lemasters King.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Marion Pancake King; son, Timothy (Casey) King of Parkersburg; two daughters, Jeanne (Ric) King Cochran of Charleston, W.Va., and Cindy (Clarence) Swartzmiller of Sistersville, W.Va.; grandchildren, Danny (Gwen) Gatrell, Jill (Daniel) Chavez, Heather (Brian) Stillwagner; Timmy Judge, Jeremy Swartzmiller, Todd King, Katelynn Mullins and Jacob King; great-grandchildren, Gage, Kaiden, Morgan, Justin, Tierra, Sophia, Amaya, Vanessa, Cierra, Cyrus, Breigh, and Jacob; and special friend and caretaker, Koko.

GLOVER, Sharon Sue (Haught,) 53, of Alvy, W.Va., went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Sharon passed away in Wheeling Hospital.

Sharon was born December 24, 1954, in New Martinsville, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Haught.

Sharon attended Indian Creek Southern Baptist Church, where she loved to worship the Lord. She was a homemaker; but worked at Wetzel County Hospital for several years.

She is survived by her mother, Doris Derby Haught of Jacksonburg; her husband, Donald L. Glover of Alvy; a daughter, Christina Glover Davis of Blue, W.Va.; son, Jeremy Glover of Wick, W.Va.; brothers, Mick Haught, Ga., Jack Haught, Washington Lands. and David Haught, Ga.

Sharon enjoyed her family and friends. Her pride and joy were her six grandchildren, Sydney, Dylan and Wesley Glover, Evan Kamryn and Reese Davis. They will miss their nana dearly.

Sharon's family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and contributions over the past year and a half.

Life is short. You never know when your time will be up. Get right with the Lord and relax knowing that you will spend eternity in Heaven.

Lottie C. Glover, 85, of Middlebourne, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. She was born at Piney, a daughter of the late Albert and Effie Oliver Grossenbacher. She was a homemaker and a member of the Middlebourne Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess M. Glover, in 1985; two brothers, Pete and Dick Grossenbacher; a sister, Lillian Arnette.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas Darrell Glover of Sardis, Ohio, Robert M. Glover, Michael H. Glover and Garry L. Glover, all of Middlebourne; two daughters Mrs Jack (Donna) Boggs and Mrs. Michael (Norma) Smith, both of Middlebourne; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Murder in Burton

My uncle told me that a member of the Red Men in the area of Burton hung two men from the telephone poles along the railroad track in Burton. An elderly couple had been robbed and murdered in Burton but the sheriff's dept did not have enough evidence to convict. The local's felt they were convinced the two men were guilty and therfore dispensed justice. Neegless to say, no problems of crime were reported in the Burton area for 50 years. I never knew how true this story was but would like for someone in the area to research it. I now live in N. C. but did live in the area until I went into service.

TENNANT, Edward "Junior," 79, of Hancock Street, Moundsville, W.Va., died Wednesday, August 13, 2008, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va.
He was born April 25, 1929, in Reader, W.Va., the son of the late, Isaac Edward and Martha Florence Wright Tennant.
He was a Korean War Air Force veteran; a retired employee from the former LCP and Allied Chemical; and a member of Hillview Terrace Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Truex Tennant; a son, Mark (Maureen) Tennant of Morgantown, W.Va.; a daughter, Jane (Joel) Taylor of Grove City, Ohio; and four grand- children, Eric and Kevin Tennant, Jared Cook, and Jenna Taylor.

Bowen, Roy Kenneth “Red Bean”, 85, of Chelsea St., Sistersville, died August 2, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 25, 1923, of Sistersville, to the late Ross and Dell Hall Bowen. He was a World War II Navy veteran, after which he returned to the place he loved. He was a 35-year employee of Columbia Gas and former owner and operator of the Union 76 Station and Grocery Store at Porters Falls for 32 years. He enjoyed community service as a Scout Master and later as an active member of the Sistersville Lions Club. He was awarded “Lion of the Year” three times.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Geneva A. Dragovich Bowen; three daughters, Donna (John) Wood of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Carol Lasure of Fairmont, and Patricia Masters of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cathy, Mike, Nick, Brooke, Todd, and Jill; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, his first wife, Mearldean Anderson Bowen; two brothers, Lewis and Paul Bowen; and three sisters, Bertha Bowen, Ruby Miller, and Florence Moellendick.

Friends called at Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, Aug. 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The service was held Aug. 5 at 11 a.m., James Willison officiating.

Clark, Doyne B. Sr., 82, of Gawthrop Road, Grafton, W.Va., passed away on August 3, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Morgantown. He was born on January 14, 1926, in Reader. He was the son of the late Austin F. Clark and Pansye E. Robinson Clark.

Surviving family are 12 children, Linda Hedrick of St. Marys, Barbara Bosley of Scott Depot, W.Va., Debbie Tyler, Patty Snider, and Doyne (Barney) Clark Jr., all of New Martinsville, Becky Honrath of Newport Beach, Calif., Jane Schlegel of Saverna Park, Md., Lisa Christine Henger of Melissa, Texas, Kimberly Satterfield of Fairmont, Michelle Bentley of Bridgeport, Chrystal Clark of Westover, W.Va., and Lance Clark of Fairmont, W.Va.; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one nephew; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Clark.

Mr. Clark was a self-employed truck driver and was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.

Fox, “P.J.” Phillip J. Jr., 38, of Pine Grove, died August 3, 2008, in Pine Grove.

P.J. was born October 25, 1969, in New Martinsville. He is the son of Phillip J. Fox Sr. and step-mother Erma Fox and the late Barbara Hilton Fox. He was an employee of Haught’s Construction and Simon’s Market. He loved to fish, NASCAR Racing, bike riding, and working.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Fox; maternal grandparents, John and Sara Hilton; and paternal grandparents, Floyd and Hazel Fox.

He was born July 1, 1943, in Anderson, Ind., the son of the late Emmitt B. and Dorothy D. McNees Whalen.

He was a self-employed dentist; a member of the American Dental Association (ADA); WVADA; Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honorary Organization; and a member of the First Church of God in New Martinsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Dean Whalen.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Phelps Whalen; a daughter, Patricia D. Whalen, and a son, Benjamin P. Whalen, both of Weirton, W.Va.; an uncle, Wayne Judy; an aunt, Helen McNees; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Blankenship, Shirley I., 70, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Smithfield, passed away on July 27, 2008, in her residence. She was born on March 4, 1938, in Rosebush, Mich., the daughter of Rex and Fern (Bays) Smith. She retired from the Columbus Public Schools as a Sign Language Interpreter after 15 years of service. Shirley was a faithful member of the East High Street Church of Christ and was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Samuel H. Blankenship; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy Blankenship, Jan and Greg DeLong, and Vicki and Chris White; her grandchildren whom she adored, Amber and Amanda DeLong, and Drake and Peyton Samuel White; sisters, Jeanette Shock and Peg Starkey; brothers, Jim, Joe, and Walter Smith; sister-in-law, Mary Raimondi; brother-in-law, Bill Scritchfield; and family dog, Babe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Mabel Scritchfield; and son, Jeffrey.

She was born January 8, 1927, in Paden City, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Zada Imogene Neff Snodgrass.

She was an employee of Paden City Pottery and Corning Glass; and a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in New Martinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph McCormick; and her second husband, William Ingold.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia McCormick Haddix of Cary, N.C., Priscilla McCormick Grimm and her husband William, and Suzanne McCormick Hill and her husband Timothy, all of New Martinsville; six grandchildren, Beth and Amy, Aaron and Sean, and Rebecca and Melissa; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Snodgrass of Canton, Ohio; and three nephews.

She was retired from the restaurant at the Weirton Kmart; and was a member of Evangel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Price, Urcel O'Connell, Ruth Phillips and Laurine Ellis; and brothers, Clarence, Lee, Robert and Dale Weekley.

She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Wright, whom she married in Reader, W.Va., on December 19, 1951; three daughters, Sharon DeAngelo (David) Butler, Pa., Mary Shepherd (George) of Bergholz, Ohio, and Annette Reid (Carl) of Cibilo, Texas; two sons, Michael Wright (Colleen) of West Chester, Ohio, and William "J.R." Wright (Rita) of Weirton; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Yoho, Bernard L. Sr., 75, of Wileyville, passed away at his residence, as the result of a tractor accident, on August 9, 2008.

He was born September 27, 1932, in Wheat, W.Va., a son of the late Jacob Henry and Nettie Cross Yoho.

He was a Protestant by faith. He was retired from Ormet Corp., after 31 years of service. He was an avid farmer and horseman. He was also in the United Steelworkers of America Local No. 5724 out of Clarington.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Lea Yoho; a brother, Harold Yoho; and sisters, Jessie Kirkpatrick and Mary Morris.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn “Heavy” Yoho; one son, Bernard “Bernie” Yoho Jr.; one grandson, Nathaniel Yoho; one great-grandson, Dillon Yoho; five sisters, Anna Goddard and Ora Greathouse of New Martinsville, Pansy Price of Knob Fork, Irene Morris of Dunlow, W.Va., and Pelma Swiger of Wileyville.

Bobby was born September 23, 1968, the son of Bonnie Neely.

He was disabled and attended First Baptist Church in New Martinsville.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his step-father, Delbert Junior Neely; four children, Arial Paine, Jarel Ruble, Cordell Ruble, and Aurelia Ruble; a brother, Russell Ruble; and several aunts, uncles, and friends.

He was born October 9, 1933, in Folsom, the son of the late Opal Dee and Vinnie Edgell Price.

He was a retired school bus driver with the Wetzel County Board of Education and attended the Pentecostal Church in Folsom.

Surviving is his wife, Esther Jean Stonebreaker Price; four daughters, Kathy (John) Watson of Pine Grove, Karen Sampson and Joe Ash of Jacksonburg, Kelly (Daniel) Richards of Fairmont, and Kathleen Tolbert and Michael Perez of Miami, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Shaun Watson, Shannon Watson, and Rebecca Watson, Jeffery Sampson, Lacy Sampson, Pearle Sampson, Johnna Watson, Devin Richards, and Paiton Richards; and one great-grandson, Xavier Watson.

McKay, Lt. Col. Patrick James (USMC ret.,) 56, of Scott Depot, W.Va., formerly of Paden City, passed away August 8, 2008, in Charleston, W.Va.

Pat was born February 2, 1952, to the late Owen Edward and Hope Postlethwait McKay.

Following graduation from the United States Naval Academy in 1974, Lt. Col. McKay spent 20 years proudly serving our country in the United States Marine Corp. He attended the Catholic Church of the Ascension in Hurricane, W.Va.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Paula Smith McKay; two daughters, Leann Nicole and Patricia Ann; and a granddaughter, Kaylee. He is also survived by his siblings, Owen (Sara) McKay of Princeton, W.Va., Tom (Erline) McKay of Knoxville, Tenn., Eileen (Doug) Miller of New Martinsville, Cora (Scott) Bowers of Paden City, Frank (Stephanie) McKay of Paden City, Florence (Steve) Zucker of Sardis, Ohio, Mary (Tim) Yoho of Paden City, and Mike McKay of Paden City; and his step-mother, Joann McKay of Belpre, Ohio.

Friends were received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Aug. 11 at Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Aug. 12 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, New Martinsville, with Father Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant.

Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City.

Full military graveside services were conducted by American Legion Post No. 86 of Paden City, American Legion Post No. 28 of New Martinsville, American Legion Post No. 87 of Sistersville, and VFW Post No. 6327 of Sistersville.

She was born on January 17, 1923, on Lowman Ridge, the daughter of the late Effort Lee and Rebecca (Slater) Knisley.

She was a member of Lowman Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Coen on February 14, 1985; a daughter, Nila Cross; a son-in-law, Lonnie Cross; four brothers, James, Clare, Joe, and Clyde Knisley; and a sister, Elma Knisley.

Surviving are two sons, Kenny (Nadine) and Jim (Ruth) Coen, all of Pine Grove; two daughters, Nora (Gary) McDiffitt of Pine Grove, and Norma (Gary) Dulaney of Colliers, W.Va.; three brothers, George Knisley of New Martinsville, Stanley Knisley of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Jack Knisley of Canton, Ohio; a sister, Alma Cain of Paden City; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were received on Aug. 10 from 2-9 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home in Pine Grove. Funeral services were held on Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. at Lowman Baptist Church on North Fork Road with Wayne Cooper officiating.

He was born at Ruby, June 13, 2006. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, McKensie Lynn Haught; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Donna Wright, Shinnston; paternal grandparents, James and Freda Haught, Pricetown Rd.,Smithfield; maternal great-grandparents, Kenneth and Floreine Wright, Jacksonburg; Kenneth and Maxine Swiger, Paul and Doris Winans, all of Wallace; Zelma Ice, Fairmont and Lanty "Bud" Lester of Lewisburg,WV. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Lester Wright. Visitation was held at the Perine Funeral Home, Shinnston, WV, Friday, June 23, 2006. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Stout Run Cemetery, Smithfield, with Pastor Robert Shingleton and Pastor John Pigott officiating. Hunter, David Lee, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of New Martinsville, died May 4, 2008. He was born August 17, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josia C. and Nona Griffin Hunter, and a brother, Josiah C. Hunter Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley Sanders Hunter. Other survivors include his son David Lee Hunter Jr. and wife Jeri of Tulsa, Okla., and grandson Brian Hunter of Edmond, Okla.; daughter Beverly and husband Dylan Boyd of Dunedin, Fla.; daughter Paula and husband Ron Fields of Bayfield, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He moved to New Martinsville in the summer of 1942, enrolled in Magnolia High School in September, became a backfield member of the football team and started every game and played every quarter. A Texas boy became a “True Blue Eagle”. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the western Pacific during World War II. He then graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He worked in the oil fields of West Texas and was employed by Bethlehem Steel from 1957 until his retirement in 1985, during which time he became the treasurer for the western half of the country. His hobby was raising Polled Hereford cattle. Active in the Oklahoma Polled Hereford Association, serving as president and director, he also organized and served as president of the N.E. OK Polled Hereford Association. He served as breed superintendent for 34 years at Tulsa State Fair. Services were held at 2 p.m. May 7 in Moore’s South Lawn Chapel with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ritchea, Edna Imogene, 88, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2008. Edna was born May 5, 1920, at West, W.Va., daughter of the late Ella May and Daniel Postlethwait.

Edna was married to Carl Ritchea for 62 years before his death in 1999.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Limestone Methodist Church, New Martinsville, a homemaker, member of the Hilltoppers Homemakers Club, served on Election Board, and won many blue ribbons at Town and Country Days.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include five sons, Bill Ritchea (Shirley), Jim Ritchea (Joretta), and Gary Ritchea (Alicia), all of New Martinsville, Bob Ritchea (Mary) of Paden City, and Randy Ritchea of Middlebourne; four daughters, Nora Hood (Ed) of Paden City, Rose Herman (Larry) of Friendly, Sandra Huggins (Wayne) of New Martinsville, Linda Long (Lonny) of Cameron; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on July 14 at Jarvis Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, where services were held at 11 a.m. July 15 with Pastor Lemoyne Horner officiating.

Helen was a former employee of the Paden City Pottery and Universal Pottery of Cambridge, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Sistersville, American Legion Auxiliary of Paden City, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and member of the Women of the Moose of New Martinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Ott in 1987; granddaughter, Jaimy Ott in 1995; one sister; and two brothers.

Surviving are her children, Dixie (Jim) Chamberlin of Auburn, Calif.; Bill (Debbie) Ott of Fairmont, W.Va., and Susan Spence of Paden City; four grandchildren, Jarrod Ott of Morgantown, W.Va., Kelsi and Adam Wood of Paden City, and Richard Chamberlin of Auburn, Calif.; sisters, Estrel Tennant of Sistersville and Wilda Smith of Weirton; and a special family friend, Shirley Kemp of Bethany, W.Va.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m., July 24 at Paden Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve DeLay officiating.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, John Bucher, and a sister, Bonnie Longwell-Park.

Kathryn was a former employee of Wetzel County Hospital. She worked for the hospital for 10 years as a ward clerk. She was a member of the Long Valley Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Ronnie Hostuttler of Knob Fork; son, Trevor Hostuttler and wife Lisa of Knob Fork; son, Dale Hostuttler and wife Elizabeth of Wileyville; daughter, Kimberly McDiffitt and husband Bill of Littleton; son, Jonathon Stewart of Pittsburgh; daughter Lucy Hostuttler of Charleston, and daughter Tracy Hostuttler of Knob Fork; brother, James Spragg and his wife Nellie of Hundred; brother, Roger Spragg and his wife Shirley of Wileyville; and brother, John Bucher and his wife Bonnie of Sistersville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, John, Chris, Jenna, Mary Kathryn, Ashley, and Jessie as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Dora Mae Coen, Violet Elks, Martha Nickeson, and Pearl Liska.

Surviving is his wife, Genevieve “Lee” Miller Cain; two children, Vicki Kalany of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Ronald Cain of Wheeling; two sisters, Edith Wise of Charleston, W.Va., and Betty Berry of Sardis; and three grandchildren, Chassidy Cain, Corey Cain, and Kevin Kalany.

John Roberts and his wife Rachel (Hixenbaugh) Roberts were listed in the 1860 Wetzel County, West Virginia census. Also mentioned were their children, Mary E., Cassa, Lucinda, Sarah E., William H. In 1863 in Wheeling, West Virginia Rachel gave birth to a set of twins, Moses and Priscilla. John and Rachel are my dead end. I cannot find definitive information on either set of parents. I have reason to believe that Rachel may be the granddaughter of John Adam Hixenbaugh and that George Hixenbaugh may be her father....but nothing substantial. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Although, I do not have John's parents names, I do have a list of his siblings. John Roberts was born Abt 1817 and Rachel was born March 10, 1823.

CAIN, Julian A., 78, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born March 30, 1930, in Hastings, W.Va., a son of the late Henry and Bessie Mae Hatcher Cain.

He was a retired City of Wheeling Fireman; former employee of Valley National Gas; former co-owner of Suburban Pools, Wheeling; a member of the Shriner's Legion of Honor; and a Marine veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Dora Mae Coen, Violet Elks, Martha Nickeson and Pearl Liska.

Surviving is his wife, Genevieve "Lee" Miller Cain; two children, Vicki Kalany of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Ronald Cain of Wheeling; two sisters, Edith Wise of Charleston, W.Va., and Betty Berry of Sardis, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Chassidy Cain, Corey Cain and Kevin Kalany.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Julian was a tissue donor to CORE, The Center of Organ Recovery and Education, and the family requests memorial contributions be made to CORE.

I am trying to find info on Emma , who married my Great Uncle , Owen Ashford Slider,who was b. 1873 on Green Ridge, in Oldtown, Allegany County, Md. He came to Hundred & Littleton in the early 1900's to the gas & oil fields, met Emma & married her there in WV. They came back to Md. for a time, but I believe she died in WV. Would like to know where she is buried, & where they may have lived while in WV. They had 2 daughters--Dinsmore, & Mary.

Looking for further information on the family of John Carder Poe and Susanna Jolliffe. They apparently were married 23 Mar 1865 in Wetzel Co. They are there in the 1880 Wetzel co. census with children: John F., Nancy O., Urban D., David Mariman (who married Haddie Jackson) and James B. Poe, all born between and 1868 and 1877. Is the James B. Poe buried with Bertha in Mt. Herman Methodist Church Cemetery in Wetzel co the above James Poe?

Susanna Jolliffe Poe died 9 Feb 1910 at Kerens, Randolph Co. West Virginia.

I am looking for living descendants of Archie Curtis JACKSON (7/29/1883 – 1958) and Missouri Belgium Pettit JACKSON (11/12/1888 – 7/1981).

They are buried in the Anderson-Bethel Cemetery in Littleton, WV (though in separate sections as they were divorced.

I believe they had three children Delvery Howard Jackson (b 1906), Lhea R. (Ruth?) Jackson (b about 1908), and Rhea R. (Ruby?) Jackson (b about 11/1909).

Any insights or additional information is greatly appreciated.
