James Harlan, age 95, of Doolin Rt., New Martinsville, W.Va., passed away on Jan. 4, 1959. He was born at Silver Hill, W.Va., on Dec. 26, 1863, the son of William and Carolyn Vorhees Harlan and was a retired blacksmith and merchant. Surviving are five sons: W. W. Harlan, Weston, W.Va., Harry Harlan, Doolin Rt., Daniel Harlan, Bridgeport, Ohio, Aaron Harlan, Moundsville, W.Va., Clarence Harlan of Silver Hill; and two daughters, Mrs. Clara Fankhouser of Reader, W.Va., and Mrs. Edith Winland of Richmond, Ohio. Also surviving are 43 grandchildren and 86 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Moundsville, W.Va. Interment was made in the Harlan Cemetery near New Dale, W.Va.
