I have been doing extensive research on the Stephen
Bartram family of Wayne Co. WVA.
I believe Stephen to be the son of George and Ann
Bartram from the
Philadelphia ,PA and
New Jersey areas. I found this item the other day and thought I would post it for it may inspire other lines in this family (
Cyrus):
From the Documents relating to the Colonial History of
New Jersey Vol XXVI, Page 436:
G.BARTRAM and P.SHIRAS, Have brought up to their store, at Mountholly, A LARGE and general assortment of European, East and West-India
GOODS, which was purchased on the best terms: therefore are determined to supply the town and country lower than has been done there for many years past, and purposed to sell for ready money, or country produce,only.

Peter
Shiras, the Pittsburgh progenitor of the
Shiras family, was born in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire,
Scotland . He was the son Alexander and Margaret (
Stuart) Shiras.Peter and his brother Alexander left
Scotland and sailed to
America in 1768. They settled first in
Philadelphia, but later removed to Mt. Holly,
New Jersey, where they purchased property. Peter married Rebecca Thomas,November 11, 1770. Their descendants were later in Lawrence Co. Ohio (1850 1860) census. Some were in Manchester,
Ohio and Cincinnati. Very political Nationally.

Stephen
Bartram was very much connected by blood and marriages to the
Buffington and Huddlestons, who came from Bucks Co.PA to the Kanawha and
Cabell Co. areas and of course, his descendants, to the
Coles, Frys,
Adkins,
Walker,
Huston,
Ferguson,
Osburn, and
Porter familys who also migrated along those same trails. Linda
