Jay "Jay Bird" Maynard, 87, of Dunlow, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, KY. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Elder Roger Maynard. Burial will follow at the S. D. Copley Cemetery, Dunlow. He was born March 5, 1921 at Dunlow, a son of the late Latt Maynard and Ora Marie Marcum. He was a retired member of Construction and General Labor Local 543 and member of Jewell Lodge # 140 of Crum, WV. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. A sister, Mildred Wright, a brother, D.J. Maynard, and a grandson, Teddy Nelson, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy Williamson Maynard; five daughters, Charlene Cisco and husband, Kenneth of Huntington, WV, Ruth Adkins and husband, Keith “Booty”, and Wynemia Maynard and life partner, John Byrne, all of Cleveland, OH, Patricia Nelson of Dunlow, WV, and Sharon Conn of Crum, WV; a son, Maurice Dale Maynard and wife, Kathy of Felicity, OH; two sisters, Victoria Queen of Wilsondale, WV, and Ida Pearl Travis of Cleveland, OH; a brother, Latt Maynard, Jr. of Dunlow, WV; seven grandsons, Maurice Dale Maynard, II, Kenneth David Cisco, Brian Keith Adkins, Jayson Adkins, Jess Nelson, Danny Schneider, Robert Maynard; five granddaughters, Kim Smith, Tamara Cisco, Misty Organ, Nicole McKinney, Jessica Stowell; five great-grandsons, Jayson Adkins, Brian Adkins, Ryland Cisco, Will Organ, and Channing Smith; seven great-granddaughters, Courtney Smith, Brittany Adkins, Vivian Cisco, Taylor McKinney, Ashley McKinney, Savannah Maynard and Lexi Maynard; special family members, Danny Conn of Louisa, KY, Patricia Crum of Inez, KY, Grant Maynard of Cleveland, OH.
