Looking for the marriage certificate of Iva M. Reed to Cleveland Roy Hinkle. I believe it was on June 18th between 1915 and 1920. I think they were married either at her home or at Mount Hermon EUB church which is now Methodist. They are my grandparents. Thanks, Rebecca Dexter

Click on death index. Also has births and marriages. There is two marriages for a Reed and Hinkle in Upshur during that time period, but not those names. Maybe you can find something.

Thanks so much for your reply...I clicked on that site and it was all death certificates except for Vitacheck which charges a fee...is that what you used? The names would have been Cleveland Roy (or Roy) Hinkle and Iva M. Reed....what names did you see? Thanks again. Rebecca Dexter

Here's the ones I found. Go back to site and click on first index, WV death index 1917-1958. They also have marriages and births. You can actually look at and print the original documents.

Fred Hinkle, Oma Maud Reed 1911 Upshur
Freeman Earl Hinkle, Lilly Pearl Reed 1915 Upshur

I have the marriage books for Upshur, Randolph, and Lewis counties. I looked for your Hinkle - Reed marriage and didn't find it listed. I'm listing what I did find in case this info gives you a clue - at least it may eliminate some possibilities.
You mentioned in an earlier post that you may know the church - maybe you could get information by contacting the church.
Another suggestion - the 1930 census gives the age at first marriage. That could narrow the marriage down to a couple years.

Upshur Marriages 1896 - 1923 (no Cleveland or Roy Hinkle listed in the book)
Black, I N 48 (Div) Upshur
Reed, Iva Myrtle 22 Upshur
Clark & Delilah
Harrison & Jane
11 June 1916

Randolph Marriages 1787 - 1923
Hinkle, Roy B 21 Harrison
Weese, Nellie Gay 23 Barbour; Randolph
19 Nov 1923

Hinkle, Ray 24 Upshur
McCroby, Gertrude 19 Randolph
20 Mar 1922

Lewis Marriages 1881 - 1937 (no Cleveland or Roy Hinkle, and no Iva Reed listed)

Thank you so much for your help and efforts...it is possible that they were married in Akron, Ohio and I am checking that out. Unfortunately I am not able to locate them in the 1930 census. Evidently they lost a house in the depression and my grandfather went back to WVA to work in the mines and my grandmother was living with relatives with the 2 girls. Thanks again, r

You can email the Akron library and they are very good about helping with information. I've always gotten a response in the same day.

Good luck!

I couldn't find the people you were looking for, but here is a great link to find free copies of historical birth, marriage, and death records throughout West Virginia:

http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx

Not everything has been uploaded, but there is a lot. I've found that there are a lot of misspellings, though, which affect the searches - so be really creative when entering search terms.

Enjoy!
