They were both born in Taylor County and moved to Doddridge County sometime after 1860. Joseph is buried in Doddridge County. I have yet to find Huldah's grave. Betty,

I find this very interesting. My first Finley in Harrison County, Archibald Finley, was also from Bucks Co. and was supposed to have stayed for a time in Loudon Co. VA. before coming west to Harrison Co. I'll try to find the book. It may have helpful information on both families. Thanks very much.
Jim

James,
If you can find a copy of the book "The Wolfe, Hawkins, Sheets, Yates, Wheeler, and Allied Families," by Lela W. Prewit, published 1964 in Fairfield Iowa, you will find information on your Yates line.

According to this book, Hulda Yates Finley was a daughter of Thomas Yates, b. 1812, and Anna Griffin 1810/1895.

Thomas, son of William Yates and Elizabeth Hawkins.

William, son of William Yates and Ann Nancy Gibson. (William, the father of William, was born Bucks Co. PA and died Harrison Co. VA.)

William, the son of Joseph Yates, Joseph born Bucks Co. PA, died Louden Co. VA

Joseph, son of James Yates and Anges Webster.
James is the Immigrant ancestor from England, he came to America in 1684 aboard the ship Vine, from Liverpool.
The early Yates family in America was Quakers.

Hello James, I have a copy of the book Betty is referring to and it shows Joseph Finley's parents as William and Sarah Finley. Also, it says, they were married January 3, l856, by John davidson, minister, in Taylor county. Huldah's age was given as 21 and joseph's 23 when they got married. I have a copy of the book, because, my line is from William Yates Jr. sister Mary Yates-Cross. If there is anything I can look up for you let me know. By the way, there was no other information on the Finley line except that which I just gave you. Happy Hunting!!! Linda

I am researching Richard Franklin Cooper who I believe to be a son of Hiram Cooper. He married Augusta Newlon. Any information regarding this line would be appreciated
