Nancy Minerva Janes was d/o George Janes and Hannah Reed. George d. about 1847 in White Co. IN and Hannah m. John Davis [1800-1880] after George d. John was f/o Joseph W. Davis who m. Nancy Minerva Janes. Reed R. Davis s/o Joseph W. & Nancy Davis noted that when his parents were children in Joseph & Nancy were playmates in what became Taylor Co., WV.
Joseph Died in 1879 in Butler Co., KS. Nancy d. 1904. In the mid 1890's Nancy asked her son Prof. John Davis to assist her in finding her ancestor, James Jaynes. Prof. John contacted a barrister in London who agreed to assist but needed information that was not available so the matter was dropped. She advised that her ancestor was drafted into the English Navy serving about 7 years during the Revolutionary War. When the war ended James remained in this country and became a citizen of the Virginia Colony. Nancy advised that her Grandfather, James d. in Richmond, IN about 1840.
