Hello cousin,
Your great grandmother would be my great, great aunt. She was the 3rd child of Samuel and Edith Smith Cavins. My great grandfather William Cavins was her oldest full brother. I show her being born 15 September 1873. Her siblings were John Cavins (Edith's child by a Southern soldier by the last name of Thompson) William, Charles, David, and Eldridge.
Samuel served in the WV 5th Infantry and WV 1st Veteran Infantry during the Civil War. I belong to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. There is a Memorial Brick in his honor at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisbug, PA. His burial is marked by a military headstone at Old Kid Cemetery in Lewis County, WV. Edith is buried in Horner beside her brother and sister-in-law. We're trying to locate the actual graves.
You may wish to join the Hacker Creek Pioneer Descendants. I gave them copies of Samuel's military record and Edith's pension application.
I show Sarah and Ben's children as Mamie, Hazel, John, Homer, Ethel, Charles Federick, Lafayette, Raymond, Benjamin F, and Margaret Virginia.
She was married to Ben on 29 May 1893 in Lewis County.
I hope that fills in a bit. It is easier to contact me at
